To make a high school football game more exciting, one Ohio mom decided to sneak herself some alcohol into the stands.
Hoping no one would catch her, 30-year-old mom Andrea Mucciarone decided to fill one of her son’s sippy cups with vodka since no one would question a child’s sippy cup. However, as Mucciarone and her family sat in the stands at Conneaut High School watched the game, her 23-month-old son grabbed the bottle, which he thought was his.
A little while later, Mucciarone’s family member realized that the almost 2-year-old was drinking vodka, and rushed him to the University Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center. Doctors immediately called the police “about a child that had come in, reported falling down and kept tripping. Wasn’t able to stand up,” said Chief Michael Colby.
Police don’t believe Mucciarone intentionally gave her son the alcohol, but she now faces six months in jail and a $1,000 fine after they charged her with child endangering. “Well, it was poor judgment on behalf of the mom. I don’t think that anything was done intentionally, but again, it was a bad decision to put the beverage in that type of container,” Colby said. “She knows she made a mistake and she’s owning up to it, and she’s doing what she can to make things right.”
