Animal control officers are used to finding animals in their worst moments, however, one Texas animal control officer could barely believe a puppy was still alive when he got sight of the puppy’s severe wounds.
When one Galveston County animal control officer got a call about a dog who had been dragged behind a truck, he quickly made his way to the scene and had no idea what to expect. Once he arrived, he found a 5-6-month-old Australian Cattle Dog that had severe wounds to his legs, chest, and paws with deep tissue, muscle, and bones exposed.
The dog’s owner explained that baby Arlo had been left tied to a truck earlier in the day by a child, and had been dragged for about a mile on a dirt road after the driver didn’t see Arlo tied up. “The woman says her father later left in the truck, dragging the dog approximately three-quarters of a mile down a dirt road, said Houston K-911 Rescue in a YouCaring page to raise money for Arlo’s extensive treatments. “The dog was freed when its collar broke.”
Arlo is in serious condition and is in severe pain, but is getting around the clock care at VERGI Animal Hospital where the staff is working to keep him stable and ease his pain.
