Stray and lost dogs aren’t always friendly towards police and animal control officers, which is why one Missouri cop was a little nervous when he needed to free a dog who had gotten himself trapped in a fence.
After a Plattsburg, NY woman found a large dog hanging by his leg in her wire fence, she called the police for help, since the poor Labrador had somehow gotten himself so badly entangled in the wire, she couldn’t untangle him on her own. Officer Nick Shepard arrived shortly after with a pair of wire cutters and quickly got to work.
As Shepard approached the trapped dog, he couldn’t help but feel nervous and was afraid the panicked dog would react aggressively and attack once freed. However, his fears disappeared when the large but friendly dog started wagging his tail as he got closer.
Afters struggling for a few minutes with the wire cutters, Shepard finally managed to cut the dog’s leg loose, and the chocolate Lab immediately sprinted away. Shepard knew the dog was injured and began calling out for him, but when the dog doesn’t come back, he makes his way back to his patrol car to continue his search by car.
Yet when he walks up to the car, he discovers the dog has made himself comfortable in the driver’s seat. “You gotta be kidding,” Shepard says as he laughs at his new companion.
