Foxes are usually pretty sneaky animals and are good at staying out of site, which is why some UK locals from Surrey were surprised to see a fox walking around the neighborhood.
However, when they got a closer look, they realized the animal was actually injured and had a massive arrow stuck through its neck. It was clear the animal didn’t have much time left, so they quickly called rescuers from the Leatherhead Wildlife Foundation.
Besides a small complication when the fox got stuck in a bush, the team quickly rescued the poor animal, and rushed her to Emma Lloret Avella, the foundation’s veterinarian. Emma performed emergency surgery to remove the arrow and fix the damage left behind in the two open holes in her neck.
“She was eating straight away after surgery, she was a lot more comfortable without the arrow,” Emma said. “She definitely would have died without the surgery, it would have been a very slow, painful death. She’s going to make a full recovery, she’s looking really great.”
The foundation then reported the incident to the RSPCA and the police, but unfortunately, it’s almost impossible to tell who shot the arrow. “If anyone sees anything like this it’s very important to contact a local animal charity or the RSPCA,” said Simon Cowell, the foundation’s founder.
