For the past two years, a boy from Georgia has been growing his hair out and has constantly been mistaken for a little girl because of it.
While most 10-year-old boys would freak out if they were constantly mistaken for a girl, Tyler Boone never minded it much since it meant he was that much closer to making his best friend with Alopecia areata happy. “I’m used to it now,” Boone said.
12-year-old Gabby Ruiz was diagnosed with alopecia, a hair loss disorder when she was just four years old. She’s tried different kinds of treatments, but nothing has worked and she has no hair because of it. In order to maker her happy, Boone decided he would grow his hair out and donate it once it was long enough to make a wig for her.
Boone explained that he just wanted to make Gabby happy, and after two long years, his hair was finally long enough. This past week, the two met up and cut 12 inches of his hair off together and sent it to Children with Hair Loss, a nonprofit that will make a wig out of the hair.
