After years of being neglected and left suffering from a painful skin condition, one sweet five-year-old terrier finally got a second chance when she was rescued by a local RSPCA.
Yet, when the vet examined the terrier named Molly, the team discovered her skin condition was the least of her problems. Molly’s heart rhythm was dangerously slow, and without treatment, the team worried she could die at any moment.
Molly needed surgery to fix her broken heart, however, the procedure and the rest of the treatment she required was incredibly expensive. The RSPCA had no choice but to set up a donation for Molly’s care, and the team was left speechless when generous strangers raised thousands in just three hours.
“Molly needed pacemaker surgery due to a dangerously slow heart rhythm. Without it, the outlook for her was uncertain. Thanks to their kindness, Molly was prepped for surgery and surgeon Chris Linney was able to get to work saving her life. “Pacemaker surgery was challenging due to her small size but it went well and she is making a speedy recovery under the care of our veterinary team at Willows,” Linney said.
Now, Molly is recuperating from surgery but is already feeling much better. “We are extremely thankful to everyone who donated towards Molly’s operation. Once she is fully recovered, she will have a new lease of life. When she is well enough we will look to rehome her, which will be the icing on the cake,” said Danni Holder, kennel supervisor from the Coventry RSPCA.
