If you find yourself struggling to make it through the day, letting things fall through the cracks, and overwhelmed with stress, it might be time to reconsider your morning routine. Without a solid start to the day, you lack the proper foundation to accomplish your goals.
With a morning routine that addresses both your physical and mental needs, you will transform into a driven, energized, and positive person. You may need to wake up earlier to fit in these morning rituals, but if you follow these 7 tips, your day is guaranteed to transform.
7. Set three goal for the day.
We all have seemingly endless to-do lists that we want to get accomplished each day, but never do because of our busy lives. Instead of setting yourself up for failure by having way to many things on your list, write down no more than three goals for the day. Once you write down those three things, make those things your top priority for the day.
Having just a few things to do will make getting things done seem more manageable, and will make you feel more confident in your abilities, and happy that you accomplished what you set out to.
6. Write down three things to be grateful for.
Writing down three things you’re grateful for will ensure you start your day off on a positive note. It’s easy to get wrapped up in silly problems and complications, but reminding yourself all you have to be thankful for will make those problems look silly in comparison.
Expressing gratitude has also been shown to improve sleep, improve self-esteem, and improve relationships.
5. Play uplifting music.
Scientists have proven that listening to your favorite songs can make you happier, but playing music as you get ready will make your routine feel less like a chore. Instead of dreading getting out of bed, you’ll soon start looking forward to waking up in the morning.
4. Move your body.
Whether you’re a runner or a yogi, find time to move your body every morning. It might be just a few minutes or a half hour, but moving your body will jumpstart the day and wake up your muscles. Not only will this help you connect to your physical body, but the endorphins will help you start the day with a positive outlook.
3. Drink a glass of warm lemon water.
After about eight hours of sleep, one of the most important things to do is rehydrate. Instead of drinking plain water, take this opportunity to add some lemon to warm water to boost energy, look younger, improve digestion, and reduce inflammation.
2. Meditate.
The benefits of meditation have been well documented, but it can be a challenging ritual to adopt. Try replacing the time you spend looking through your email and Instagram feed with a few minutes of meditating. All it takes is a few minutes to start feeling more self-control, compassion, clarity, and patience.
1. Eat a real breakfast.
If you find yourself snacking all day long at your desk, it might be because you’re not giving yourself enough fuel in the beginning of the day. Eating a balanced meal in the morning will make you more efficient at work, and less likely to overeat before and during your next meal.
