Besides service animals, hospitals typically don’t allow furry, four-legged creatures to visit their owners, which is why one California woman had to get creative when she found out her grandmother wanted to see her beloved pup.
Recently, 21-year-old Shelby Hennick’s grandmother, Dona, was admitted to the hospital for three days after experiencing a negative reaction to one of her medications. Dona desperately missed her dog Patsy, who she normally spends all her time with, so Shelby started to think of a way to sneak Patsy into the hospital for a surprise visit.
After some brainstorming, the veterinary technician decided to wrap Patsy in a blanket and walked into the hospital pretending it was her baby. Luckily, Patsy didn’t make any noise as Shelby carried her into the hospital and she had no trouble making it to her grandma’s room. “Patsy was quiet the whole time and actually kept licking my arm,” Shelby said.
At first, Dona thought her granddaughter was really carrying a baby but was ecstatic when she saw Patsy. “I was really happy we were able to pull it off, and I’m sure it made her day,” Shelby added. Dona is now doing much better and was released from the hospital after the weekend.
