When one Texas police dispatcher decided to propose to his girlfriend after two years together, he decided to try and get some help from one of his co-workers to make it happen.
With the help of Grapevine Police Officer Chad Hale, dispatcher Stephen Smith planned to surprise his girlfriend, Amanda Radican, with his proposal during a traffic stop since they love to prank each other. “I figured this would be perfect,” Smith said. “It’s totally us. We like to pull jokes on each other.”
“He purposely left his phone at home, then began tracking it through the “find my iPhone” app. Smith then began a ride along with Officer Chad Hale. When his app showed she was close by, Officer Hale initiated a traffic stop in a parking lot,” the Grapevine Police Department wrote in a post to Facebook.
Officer Hale told Radican that there was a warrant out for the vehicle she was driving and asked her to step outside the car. “I thought there was a huge misunderstanding. I’ve never been in trouble ever before,”Radican said. “Just as she started to cry, Dispatcher Smith walked up behind her, got down on one knee, and explained the warrant was actually her being wanted by him,” Grapevine Police explained.
“After I turned around and saw him down on one knee, everything was so relieved,” Radican said. “I was overjoyed he was finally proposing.” Radican’s first response was ‘You lied’ but once she realized Smith was proposing, she finally said ‘yes’.
