The Arrest
On February 22, 2018, the 44-year-old father of 2 was taken into custody and charged with the murder of his wife. Jeff, who was honorably discharged after 21 years of service in the U.S. Army and had been working as a college campus security guard, was placed in the Shelby County Jail.
An Innocent Man
However, Jeff insisted he hadn’t killed Kat and had known all about her secret life. “He didn’t do this,” Kat’s mom, Nancy Martin, said. “He’s a good man. “Maybe she fell. I think it was an accident. Jeff didn’t do this. He’s a good man and he loved her with all of his heart,” Nancy said. Awaiting Trial
Despite the family’s support and testimonies, the judge refused to lower Jeff’s bail, and he is forced to wait for his trial in the Shelby County Jail. “He is heartbroken over the death of his wife and the disruption that this case has caused his family. Mostly, he is concerned about his daughter and how the loss of her mother is affecting her,” attorney John Robbins said. “Jeff is a good man, a good husband, and a good father.
