After years on the force, there’s typically very little that can surprise a cop. When officers arrived to a hotel room, they weren’t surprised when they found an unconscious man surrounded with heroine and other drug paraphernalia. What was a shock, however, was the surprising thing Detective Mike Lynes had found in the bathroom.
When Lynes walked into the hotel’s bathroom, he found a tiny puppy left all alone. The puppy, named Daisy, was starving, weak, and exhausted. Lynes brought Daisy to animal control to wait to see if she’d be claimed, but no one came for her.
Daisy felt right at home among all the people who rescued her, and gave her the affection she deserved.
However, Lynes couldn’t get Daisy out of his mind. When no one claimed her, he decided to adopt her so she could become part of his family.
Daisy is a reminder that people aren’t the only ones affected by drug use. She now wears her new police vest, as she and Lynes teach kids about the dangers and consequences of drug abuse.
