They say cats have nine lives, and after this death-defying accident, it’s safe to say this kitten has used her fair share of luck.
Tony Miranda, a Cal-Waste Loader Operator, was sorting the recycling as he normally did for his job at the Galt recycling facility when he noticed something unusual traveling towards him on the conveyor belt. As it got closer, Miranda could see the object wasn’t trash, but really a newborn kitten who’d managed to survive the ride in a garbage truck.
“We put so much material in here and we run so much stuff through it,” Miranda said. “It’s just amazing to see a little kitty survive through all this. It made my day today, definitely made my day.”
After being saved from the conveyor belt moving quickly towards the trash compressor, Shift Lead Heather Garcia went to find out what exactly happened. Garcia instantly fell in love with the helpless kitten, and decided to adopt her and name her Murphy.
