Anyone who’s ever gone grocery shopping has at one point or another felt the humiliation of misplacing your credit card or cash after the cashier finishes ringing up all of your items, and when this mom realized her wallet was missing, she was embarrassed and apologized to the cashier.
After realizing her wallet had been stolen while shopping in the Sydney Woolworths grocery store, she immediately went to go cancel her credit cards at a nearby bank before whoever stole her things could spend all of her money, but then got an even bigger surprise from one of the store’s employees.
“Within the same shopping Centre my mum found her bank branch and cancelled her credit cards. Whilst she was in the bank, a trolley pushed by a Woolworths staff member came in with all of her groceries bagged up and ready to take home. They were free of charge,” the woman’s daughter Melinda Deacon wrote in a post to thank the grocery chain.
“Thank you so much to the Carlingford Woolworths team for your kindness and generosity. My mum is still a little shaken by the whole event but my family and I are forever grateful for the kindness you showed her. Thank you again,” Milinda wrote.
In response to the Facebook post, Woolworths explained how glad they were that their small gesture was able to make the woman’s day a little better. “We were very sorry to hear of our customer’s experience. Our team at our Carlingford store were very happy to be able to help out with this small gesture and make her day just that little better,” a Woolworths spokesperson said.
