Little kids often dream of becoming firemen or policemen when they’re grown up because it’s usually one of the closest things to being an actual superhero, and getting to save the day.
Three-year-old Minh ‘Tatum’ Khang has been obsessed with the police for that very same reason, and to surprise him, his parents decided to call their local station, the Westminster Police Department, to see if an officer could come by and meet their little boy.
Officer Mike Gradilla volunteered to go and spend some time with the boy, and took some pictures together in their matching uniforms. Yet as exciting as the experience was for Minh, Gradilla was moved by the experience and hopes to possibly mentor the little boy as he gets older.
“He thought he was the lucky one, and I drove away from there, and I was all smiles the rest of the day,” Gradilla said
“Mike is a giver,” Sgt. Eddie Esqueda said. “He’d give you the shirt off his back and quietly helps the homeless. This is not a publicity stunt. Mike’s the real deal.”
