While big farm animals like cows have a nice dense coat of fur to keep them warm in chilly weather, even they aren’t prepared to handle frigid temperatures below 25 degrees.
Recently, Colorado experienced their worst snowstorm of the year, with some areas getting up to 20 inches of snow during the blizzard. At times, the snow was so bad that people were forced to abandon their cars on the side of the road as it became too dangerous to continue driving on the slippery ice-covered roads.
While out on patrol, Deputy Sue from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was trying to make sure no one had been trapped in their cars on the side of the road. Yet as she worked, she noticed a black speck in the distance and went to investigate.
As she got closer, she realized that the black ‘speck’ was actually a baby calf who had been left during the storm, and had become trapped in the snow.
“She found this little guy buried in deep snow with no other cows around,” the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a post to their Facebook. “The rancher was also snowed in, so the calf was put in the back of her truck!”
Deputy Sue was able to rescue the freezing baby cow before it was too late, and luckily, the precious calf is now doing well.
Can you believe this police officer spotted the baby cow from so far away, and went to check what it was? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and please SHARE this incredible moment with friends on Facebook.
