Any dog owner has questioned at one point or another if their dog can actually feel how much they are loved, and if they are reciprocating that love, but this absolutely incredible story is proof that dogs love their companions- and will do just about anything to be with them.
Two years ago, Debi Petranck lost her beloved black and white pug-nosed terrier named Zeus and immediately reported him missing in Ocala, Florida. Despite her constant searching, Debi never saw or heard anything about him again, and eventually she had to come to terms with the fact that he was gone forever.
Yet last week, about 2 years later and more than 1,000 miles away, the Dearborn Animal Shelter in Detroit found the lost pup, and discovered that he had been found and adopted by a man in Florida that later moved him to Michigan.
After the move, Zeus escaped from his new owner, and walked to Detroit. The shelter immediately contacted Debi, who jumped in her car and drove the entire 1,000 miles to finally get her best friend back.
“My main worry, I didn’t know if Zeus would know me or not, but he walked in and knew … he recognized me from right off,” Debi said. “Everything’s just the way we left it. We’ve just picked right up where we were.”
“I prayed that the right people would get involved. And they obviously did. I have my dog back,” she said.
