Breastfeeding moms go to great lengths to make sure their babies are fed and happy, and when one Australian mom landed in the hospital, she refused to let it stop her from caring for her baby boy.
When mom Thamalia Muller Benjamin Greenbury-Hall, who has a heart condition called cardiomyopathy, started developing an infection in her nose, she started getting dizzy. And last week while walking up a flight of stairs, she blacked out and ended up in the hospital after falling down a flight of 12 stairs.
Despite being in an incredible amount of pain, she insisted that doctors only give her an over-the-counter pain killer since she wouldn’t be able to breastfeed her 9-month-old son if she was treated with stronger drugs.
“I was so nervous on the ride the hospital knowing that my son wouldn’t have a bar of a bottle and he was well and truly due for a feed,” Thamalia said.
Luckily, however, after doctors and nurses made sure she was stable, put a neck brace on, and hooked her up to some machines, they agreed to help her nurse her baby. “Thankfully I had some great nurses and doctors that helped me through it and didn’t even say a word about us co sleeping,” said Thamalia, who endured even more pain so that her baby could lie in bed with her and breastfeed.
“I’d rather me be in pain and him be fed, especially at that time as he should have been in bed asleep,” she said.
