To keep the house clean and not trek mud throughout the house, many families like to take shoes off at the door or even leave them outside overnight.
However, one Australian woman is proving why it might be doing more harm than good…
On a chilly morning, the Adelaide-based woman decided it was cold enough out to wear her Ugg boots, which she had left outside by the front door like she normally did. Yet, when she went out to put them on, she saw a tail disappear into her boot.
When she looked inside, she saw a brown snake slithering inside and immediately called snake catcher Rolly Burrell. “She went outside to get her ugg boots and she saw something shoot in there,” Burrell said. “She realised it was a snake.”
Thankfully, the woman called for help instead of trying to get it out herself because the 3-foot snake was actually an eastern brown snake, which is the second most deadly land snake.
“They’re all just starting to wake up from their sleep,” Burrell said of the native Australian snake and suggests always keeping shoes inside if you live in an area home to deadly snakes or spiders since they like to take shelter in shoes and boots.
