Parents are supposed to keep their kids safe and know where they are at all times.
That’s exactly why one Tennessee dad was stunned when he found a toddler walking alone in the street during the middle of the night.
When Soloman Jones, a father from Memphis, got back to his house just before three in the morning with his friend, they sat down in front of his home and started talking about their night, since they figured no one else would be up at the time. However, before long, they heard a faint cry and realized a toddler was walking their way.
“We were outside sitting and talking about the night and he told me, he said, ‘I see a baby coming,'” said Jones. “I didn’t believe him, so I looked and there was a little baby.” The two-year-old was in tears and wasn’t wearing a jacket. She was clearly very lost.
Jones quickly picked her up and assured her that everything would be ok, but was stunned that the girl’s parents could be so irresponsible. “You knew she was scared because she was just walking and crying, so when we were holding her, she was holding on to us tight,” he said.
They attempted to find her home but called the police when the girl couldn’t point out where her house was. “Luckily God left us out here,” Jones said as his friend filmed. “I don’t know who this child belongs to man, so yeah, we’re getting the police out here.”
Luckily, police were able to track down the girl’s home and her parents nearby, who thanked Jones for finding their little girl and keeping her safe.
“I don’t think I’m a hero,” he said. “I think I’m just somebody doing my part for the community, doing my part to keep people safe. I’d want somebody to do that for my little girl.”
