For pets and street animals, life in Mexico isn’t always easy. Animal cruelty laws can be very vague, cases often never get prosecuted, and punishments are usually only small fines for abuse.
However, after sickening footage of local teenagers brutally killing an innocent dog for entertainment recently started circulating online, many have begun demanding Mexico introduce stronger animal cruelty laws and punishments.
In the video, the group of teenagers gathered around an open field, which locals identified as Santa Matilde in Santo Domingo, and set a defenseless six-year-old dog on fire. The poor animal quickly lit up in flames and screamed out in pain as the sick teenagers laughed in amusement.
Moments later, the terrified dog collapsed on the ground and tragically lost its life, and after uploading the disturbing footage on social media, the young men responsible were tracked down by police and were fined just $75. “They should burn the morons that did this alive. These people have got no souls,” one enraged Facebook user said after hearing the laughable punishment.
