After spending over two years on the street, one Texas dog was covered in dirt and matted fur and was petrified of people who neglected her for so long. But that all changed when one incredibly patient rescuer showed her love for the first time.
After neighbors from a Fort Worth neighborhood spotted a stray dog wandering the streets near their homes, they reached out to Judy Obregon, founder of the Texas-based animal rescue organization The Abandoned Ones. She immediately made her way to the area and started looking for the timid dog.
Once she found the dog in a yard, she slowly tried to approach the dog, but she ran away when she realized Obregon was getting close. Rather than just give up, Obregon watched from the car until the dog was familiar enough with her and could tell she wasn’t a threat. Finally, Obregon was able to get close enough to pick the dog up and rushed her to get treatment.
“I can’t believe she has survived this long,” Obregon said about the dog whose fur was terribly matted and filthy. And once the dog, who Obregon named Livvy, calmed down, she brought her to the groomer to gently cut away the matted fur that was hiding her adorable face and loving personality.
Livvy has since been given her first collar and sweater and is resting at her foster family until she finds her forever home.
