Dogs are more than just a pet; they’re a part of the family, which is why one Welsh woman was in tears when she realized her beloved dog fell off a deadly 200-foot cliff.
Shanice Francis and her boyfriend Josh Walsh decided to go for a walk at the Bridgend borough beach in Wales with her three-year-old Shar Pei named Kenco. Soon after they arrived, Kenco spotted a flock of sheep and began chasing them, and accidentally ended up running off the 200-foot cliff.
Francis didn’t see what happened to her precious dog, but when he never returned after she started calling him, she began to worry something was wrong. After four long hours searching for him, they finally heard his faint cry all the way from the pebble beach below.
“When we heard the whimpering we broke down. I ended up running and tripping on the rocks trying to get to him,” Francis said. “We carried him back to the car and took him straight to the vets.” Besides his numerous cuts and bruises, the vet discovered Kenco had a broken toe in his front paw and needed to have air drained from his lungs and chest. Francis was warned he probably wouldn’t make it through the night and got to take him home so he would be comfortable.
“I was heartbroken when they said that. But we weren’t giving up,” Francis said. Luckily, Kenco made it through the night and has quickly healed from his relatively minor injuries. “He survived the odds like no-one thought he would and now he’s back to his normal self this morning,” she said. “I can’t believe he’s still here – I can’t stop staring at him!”
