Engagement rings and wedding bands are supposed to be a symbol of love two people have for each other. However, they’ve become status symbols to show off wealth and success.

However, when Ariel and Quinn Mcrae decided to get married on the last day of their vacation, they didn’t didn’t really care about not being able to afford a massive diamond since they knew how strongly they loved each other. But Quinn insisted on buying his new wife a ring, and together they chose two matching rings from Pandora.

“My husband doesn’t have a lot, neither of us do. We scrape and scrape to pay bills and put food in our bellies, but after almost 2 years of dating we decided that we couldn’t wait anymore, so we didn’t… He scraped up just enough money to buy me two matching rings from Pandora. Sterling silver and CZ to be exact. That’s what sits on my ring finger, and I am so in love with them,” Ariel wrote in a viral Facebook post about her $130 wedding rings.

“While we were purchasing my rings, however, another lady that was working there came over to help the lady selling them to us. She said, ‘Y’all can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic.’ When she said that I watched my now husband’s face fall.”

“Y’all I would have gotten married to this man if it had been a 25¢ gum ball machine ring,” Ariel wrote. And thanks to another helpful saleswoman, the couple purchased the wedding bands they fell in love with.

But before they left, Ariel told the rude employee, “It isn’t the ring that matters, it is the love that goes into buying one that is.” And when friends and family commented on the size of the rings, she decided to share her experience with the world.

“I wanted people to understand that … a ring is just a bonus. You’re not marrying someone for a ring. You’re marrying someone because you love them.”

How would you react if someone told you your wedding ring wasn’t extravagant enough? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and please SHARE this with friends on Facebook.
