Adoption is often a long and difficult process, which is why a couple is lucky if they are able to adopt just one child. Recently, however, an Arizona couple just adopted five kids on the same day.
Over the past 12 years, Arizona parents Brenda and Curt Heuer have opened their homes and hearts to 52 foster kids, and recently, they decided to give five of those kids a forever home. The siblings, ages 2,3,6,7 and 9, have been living with their foster family since February 2015, and on November 19th, they officially became part of the family.
“We needed to keep these kids together,” Brenda said, who knew that eventually the five siblings would have been split up if they were kept in the foster care system. “These kids mean a lot to us. We have such good times together and we are doing everything we can to be good parents, we couldn’t wait to welcome them into our home — officially!”
“We decided to do it on National Adoption Day, because how fun is that? And there are a ton of parties and celebrations going on,” Brenda added. “They call us mom and dad,” Brenda said. “We’re such a family, we go camping together, and we’re going to take them to Disneyland for their adoption celebration.”
Most might be overwhelmed at the thought of gaining five kids in one day, but the Heuers are excited about giving the kids a wonderful life. “It’s our job as parents to teach our kids right from wrong and how to be good citizens!” says Brenda. “Everything feels right.”
