When dogs go missing, their owners are racked with anxiety about where their beloved pet is and if they’ve managed to stay safe while on their own.
That anxiety only worsens as time passes since the chance of finding their pet healthy and safe drops each day. And when US Army Sergeant Dahlberg’s dog Ginger ran away, Dahlberg and her daughter were confident that they’d find her if they looked hard enough. However, after over four weeks passed since they had last seen her, the family started to worry that they’d never get to see Ginger again.
“Ginger ran away several weeks ago, and Sgt Dahlberg and her daughter were afraid their beloved puppy was lost forever,” a spokesperson from the Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California said. Thankfully, Dahlberg never gave up on Ginger, and when the shelter finally found Ginger and put her listing up on their site, Dahlberg spotted the ad and contacted the shelter immediately.
“After constant searching, they found Ginger on our website – and you can see how happy both she and her family were to be reunited.” Once Dahlberg stepped inside the shelter, Ginger lit up and her tail didn’t stop wagging despite picking up a deadly viral disease while missing.
Luckily, the shelter found her in time and Ginger is getting treatment for the disease and is now home recovering with her family in time for the holidays.
