Animal shelters often struggle to afford the expensive costs of running a safe haven and providing food, medicine, and treatment to all animals in their care.
Despite their struggle to raise funds, the Michigan Humane Society is prepared to give away thousands of dollars id it means they can find out who is responsible for severely abusing a sweet dog that was recently discovered wandering the streets and was rescued by the shelter.
On January 17th, the Michigan Humane Society received a call from a local concerned citizen from southwest Detroit who spotted the brown and tan Rottweiler mix wandering the freezing streets all alone. Not only was it left out to fend for itself in the freezing weather, but the poor dog’s nose and ears had been cut off, and there were deep cuts on his back legs and tail.
“It appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering,” said Mark Ramos, a lead cruelty investigator for the Humane Society. “This kind of cruelty is unacceptable. We need to be a voice for these animals, and as a community, we need to speak through our strong actions to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
Despite being treated so horribly, the shelter is amazed at how gentle and sweet the animal is around people, and they’re making sure the sweet dog gets the very best treatment. While he recovers, the staff is making sure she knows he is loved and protected, and will never have to suffer at the hand of a cruel monster ever again. “If you know anything about this case, call the MHS hotline now at (313) 872-3401 and help us find the person responsible. This animal deserves justice,” Ramos said.
