Kids and teens are typically a little self-absorbed, which is why one Australian mom was left in tears by what her selfless daughter did one afternoon.
This past week, Sydney mom Marcela Ordonez had been talking with her husband about how she wanted to go out on a date night, but she didn’t realize that her 10-year-old daughter Chelsy-Lee Ordonez De Cross has been listening in on the conversation. Just minutes later, Chelsy-Lee came into the room and presented her parents with a box that read ‘Mum and Dad.’
To help her parents have a special date night, Chelsy-Lee emptied all of her saving, which amounted to $82, and wrote them an adorable card. “Dear Mum and Dad, here is some money for a date night,” she wrote in the letter. “It should cover a movie, dinner, and maybe extras. P.S. You could watch the scary movie for the trailer we just watched. Love Chelsy-Lee.”
“I poured it out on the couch and almost immediately started bawling,” Ordonez said. There are no words – I was just completely overwhelmed with her generosity and very proud that she can be so selfless. Chelsy-Lee is a gorgeous soul that acts in ways that are often beyond her years. We give her that autonomy because she’s a person and she can make these choices and understands there are repercussions.”
