With the weather finally warming up, one North Carolina dog owner decided to take their two dogs down to a local creek to cool off and get some exercise.
However, the outing nearly proved fatal when one of the dogs, a German Shepherd named Jack, got tangled in thick vines beneath the surface and almost drowned. “The area of water was a calm eddie pool on the side of the river where it connects to a creek where Jack’s owner was letting him and their other dog enjoy a swim in the creek area,” the Clayton Fire Department explained.
The owner immediately called emergency services for help since Jack was hopelessly tangled in the strong vines and could have drowned at any moment. Thankfully, the Clayton Fire Department arrived shortly after and sent Engineer Bryan Belvin down to the embankment.
Within a few minutes, Belvin was able to cut away all the vines wrapped around Jack and hoisted him up to safety before it was too late. “He was able to cut away the vines that had wrapped around Jacks legs and tail area, and then was raised up to pass Jack up the embankment. Great job by all!”
