Getting eight young children and one three-month-old newborn to get to bed by yourself is a monumental accomplishment, which is why one Iowa mom was furious when their dog started barking wildly in the middle of the night.
On March 15 at about 1:30 a.m., mother-of-nine Angela Fullmer was understandably annoyed when her rescue dog, Capone, started barking and refused to stop. Capone is normally a quiet and obedient dog, so Fullmer thought something must be wrong to make him act that way, and got up to see what he was barking at in the kitchen.
As she walked in the room, she saw the plug for the microwave had burst into flames, and she quickly grabbed her kids, ran out of the house, and did a roll call before calling 911. “We always do a roll call every time we get in the van,” she said. “They’re used to it.”
“He loves his family,” said Fullmer, who found him wandering the highway alone before bringing him home and making him a part of the family. “He’s pretty special. I’m glad we found him on the highway. I believe it was supposed to happen.”
