The first birthdays and holidays after a loved one has passed away are always incredibly difficult. One Michigan dad found a way to give his son something to celebrate even though he passed away just two months before.
On April 1st, dad John Crowe died suddenly and his loss has been especially painful for his children Johnny and Chandler Mae Crow. As a gift for Johnny’s 16th birthday on June 7th, he received something unexpected.

“Dad was always filled with surprises. About a month ago I dropped Johnny off at his guitar lesson, and one of the amazing instructors told me there was something I should see,” Chandler said about the brand new guitar her dad bought Johnny. “When she showed me I just dropped to my knees, I just couldn’t believe it.”

“But I had to keep it a secret until his birthday. So this morning I woke up and picked up my brother from school and blindfolded him. Drove him to the music center and this is the outcome,” Chandler said about the emotional moment Johnny realized what his dad had done for him. “A big thank you goes out to the Port Huron Music Center, who helped keep my dad’s dream alive. Happy 16th birthday buddy. Dad is so proud of you. I love you more than words can describe.”

“Johnny has been wanting this guitar for a while. He would joke with my dad about getting it in the future. He was a HUGE supporter of Johnny’s music dream and lived for his family,” Chandler said. “My dad would tell everyone that he knew Johnny was going to be famous one day and worked hard to get him there.”
