Normally, abiding by traffic laws is supposed to keep you safe while on the road, but it nearly cost one woman her life when a cyclone hit Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
This past weekend, an unidentified woman became trapped in her car in a Chick-fil-A parking lot as floodwaters from Cyclone Cindy quickly rose up. “There was running water, moving water, across the roadway. When she stopped at the stop sign, the current of the water pulled her vehicle into the drainage ditch,” said Tommy Skipworth of Muscle Shoals Police Department.
First responders raced over to the scene, but bystanders knew it would be too late by the time they arrived. Instead of just standing back and watching as the car sank, the brave strangers grouped together and formed a human chain so that they could reach the car.
Eventually, the group managed to pull the woman out from her car. Thanks to their bravery, she miraculously walked away from the scene without any injury.
