And no, despite what you’ve heard, it doesn’t require an IV of fluids, a cold shower, an ibuprofen, or gallons of water.
While some of those tips may slightly help reduce the pesky hangover symptoms like having a splitting headache or being nauseas, nothing but time has ever been able to fully make you feel normal.
However, a recent study has revealed that the ultimate key to counteract too much drinking could be as simple as drinking pear juice.
Researchers aren’t sure yet what makes pear juice a miraculous hangover cure, but in a study by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CISRO), the Australian government’s scientific research organization, test subjects were given 220 mL – or slightly less than one cup- of Asian pear juice before drinking alcohol. Those who drank the pear juice had fewer hangover symptoms the next day.
Test subject’s ability to focus was greatly improve, and the juice’s anti-inflammatory properties mean headaches are greatly diminished, and even disappear.
The study’s lead researcher, Manny Noakes, believes that the enzymes in pear juice help to speed up alcohol metabolism, and somewhat hinder alcohol absorption.
While aspects of the study still need to be resolved like if eating the whole fruit or other pear juice varieties are as effective, researchers are clear that the hangover cure was only effective if consumed before getting drunk.
So, if your night looks something like this…
Be sure to drink your pear juice!
