Animals are incredibly resilient creatures who are capable of thriving after tragic accidents like losing a limb or losing their vision. Despite completely losing his eyesight in one of his eyes, Willy the cat had managed to survive on his own in the wild.
However, by the time Willy was found wandering a rural area in Parkland, Florida, his eye was terribly infected, and it needed to be removed before the infection could spread and cause more damage. A local veterinarian offered to donate about $1000 of free services for Willy’s surgery, but it was still $600 short of what the total treatment would cost.
Willy’s caretakers were desperate to save the sweet 2-year-old cat, who was otherwise completely healthy, so they turned to the internet for help. In less than two hours, people on Facebook came together and donated almost $250 more than they needed.
Just days after the surgery, which Dr. Osti said went very well, Willy was back to his favorite activity of stalking squirrels and birds as they fly around outside as he waited to be adopted into a forever home.
