As you get older, birthday gifts get a little less exciting than they were when you were a kid, which is why one man didn’t have any high expectations when his birthday came around.
As part of his gift, the man’s wife told him that she had planned a nice dinner with family at a local restaurant, however, he had no idea that the seemingly mundane birthday plans were really just part of an elaborate plan that his wife had been working on for weeks.
It all started when the man’s kidneys started to fail, and they began the months-long wait to try and find a matching organ donor. When they failed to find a donor, the man’s wife decided to get tested to see if she was a match, and was stunned when doctors called her and told her that she was actually a perfect match for her husband.
Since his birthday was coming up, she decided to save the special news, and planned the perfect way to tell him. After finishing their meal, the sweet wife had the server bring out a specially-made cake that read “We’re a match in more ways than one…”.
At first, the man glanced over at the cake, which he had assumed was just a normal birthday cake. However, when he looked back at it, he immediately broke down into tears after realizing that his wife was a match and that she was literally giving him one of her kidneys.
