Loud noises frighten even the biggest dogs, however, in the face of ‘danger’ this small dog was to be the perfect, cuddly protector for his newborn baby sister.
Despite its small stature, this dog proved to be a courageous protector, and only left the baby’s side when he sensed the situation was safe.
Sensing danger, this dog leapt to action to protect his newborn sister.
However, the ‘danger’ turned out to be a dog grooming blow dryer.
The minute the blow dryer was turned off, the dog felt it was safe enough to leave the baby’s side.
Yet the minute the doggie blow dryer was turned back on…
this courageous dog was back at his sister’s side.

In our lifetime we are inundated with messages that tell us how we should look, how we should act, and what we should like. Today, we are exposed to about 5,000 advertisements a day, so it’s no surprise that people around the world feel pressure to be perfect. According to research done by the Centre for Appearance Research, a research center based at the University of the West of England in Bristol, as much as 60 percent of adults report being ashamed of their bodies, and 70 percent of women report that they have felt pressure from television and magazines to have a ‘perfect’ body.
In order to raise awareness for eating disorders, self-esteem issues, and remind people to be more self-accepting, Jae West decided to stand on a street corner in nothing but her underwear and let people draw hearts on her skin.
“Just the thought of looking down at my body and seeing it covered in love hearts from other people brought tears to my eyes. It was a reality check of how harsh we can be on ourselves, we really can be our own worst critics. The unrealistic expectations we place on ourselves can cause us to reject the love that others openly give because of a feeling of unworthiness. I knew this was a global concept that many people could relate to, so putting myself in that situation really was a stand for everyone out there that has been confronted with self-doubt in relation to the way they look,” West said.
Jae West stands in the streets of Piccadilly Circus, and begins to undress.
Onlookers are confused and curious, as West stands in nothing but her underwear on the street corner.
As she stood blindfolded, West was completely vulnerable and was afraid that she would offend the people around her.
“I’m standing for anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder or self-esteem issue like me… To support self-acceptance draw a ‘♥’ on my body.”
“All of a sudden I felt one of the pens in my left hand slip out of my grasp. The feeling of the felt pen was on my skin was one of the most overwhelming feelings of relief, gratitude and love that I’ve ever felt. I just burst into tears. I don’t know who that first person was but I am so thankful for their contribution,” West explained.
Even the police were supportive of West’s cause, and hugged her after the experiment.

If you’ve always wanted to get a tattoo, but could never fully commit to having something tattooed on your skin for life, these new temporary tattoos are the answers to your prayers. These two-week tattoos are changing up the temporary tattoo world, and letting people experience what it’s like to have a tattoo without the commitment.
Tyler and Braden Handley, the Toronto-based co-founders of Inkbox, were inspired by the Embera-Wounaan and Kuna people, who have used the Genipa Americana fruit to decorate their skin for thousands of years. The fruit-derived ink dyes the top layer of your skin black over a 12-hour period, and lasts approximately 15 days before completely fading away. Inkbox tattoos look and feel like the real thing because the ink dyes the top layer of skin, whereas traditional temporary tattoos sit at the surface of the skin.
Rather then sitting in a chair for hours in agony, Inkbox tattoos, which use 100 percent organic fruit ink sourced from the jungles of the Darién Gap, Panama, are painlessly applied with a damp towelette in 10 minutes.
As if these temporary tattoos couldn’t get better, you’ll be happy to know that the Handley brothers plan to donate a percentage of every sale to support the indigenous communities that inspired the company.
Inkbox currently has a Kickstarter campaign that has surpassed the $100,000 goal to allow custom tattoo ordering, and has currently raised $171,466.

Pools evoke feelings and memories of summer, care-free fun, and childhood, which is what makes the world’s largest pool so awesome.
This pool, which holds the Guinness World Recordfor largest pool in the world, calls the private resort San Alfonso del Mar in Algarrobo, Chile home. It was built by Chilean company Crystal Lagoons, and took over five years to construct.
The mammoth pool is 3,323 ft long, or 6/10ths of a mile!
It has a surface area of 20 acres, and a maximum depth of 115 ft.
It took 3.5 million pounds of sand to fill in the sand beaches along the pool’s shore.
The pool is so large that you can sail, kayak, jet ski, and even scuba dive in it.
The water used to fill the gigantic pool actually comes from the ocean, but it goes through a filtering process so it is completely purified before entering the pool.

Dogs have long been trained to use their exceptional sense of smell to aid in finding missing people, blood, drugs, bombs, and even electronics. Now man’s best friend is about to use its nose for detecting cancer.
The idea that dogs are capable of smelling cancer cells isn’t new, however, recent research is proving just how useful our four-legged friends can be at detecting cancer. Recently, the National Health Service (NHS) in the U.K. has approved the use of cancer smelling dogs in trials, and the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento, CA has begun a 12-month training program that will teach dogs how to detect head and neck cancers by sniffing saliva, breath and urine samples.
Dog’s sense of smell is thought to be 10,000 to 100,000 times better than human’s sense of smell, as dogs have 300 million sense receptors in their noses compared to the measly 5 million that people have. Scientists have discovered that many diseases and conditions, including cancer, give off scents, which dogs are able to detect.
In a recent interview with NPR, behavioral psychologist and co-founder of Medical Detection Dogs Claire Guest explained “What we’ve now discovered is that lots of diseases and conditions — and cancer included — that they actually have different volatile organic compounds, these smelly compounds, that are associated with them, and dogs can smell them.”
“Our dogs have higher rates of reliability than most of the existing tests. We should not be turning our backs on these highly sensitive bio-detectors just because they have furry coats,” Guest said.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we picture Koalas as cuddly, gentle creatures that sit in trees chewing Eucalyptus leaves. However, this video posted by Ebony Churchill, a daily farmer, shows that these tiny bears can be quite a handful.
In the video, Churchill tries to ride away from a koala chasing her on an ATV, and when the koala eventually catches up to her, she jumps off to find the bear climbing on to the back tire.
Churchill shouts “It’s coming! Get away, get away!”
The woman had to jump off her ATV as the speedy koala climbed aboard.
According to Bill Ellis, Director of the Koala Ecology Group at the University of Queensland, the animal’s behavior was very unusual as wild koalas normally don’t approach vehicles or people, especially in the daytime. Koalas at the zoo are usually lazily slumped in tree branches, and appear to be very slow, however wild koalas are much more agile, and can even be dangerous.
In an interview with a Melbourne news station, Ellis explained that “A wild koala is quite a dangerous animal to deal with unless you know what you’re doing. They’ve got super sharp claws and really strong and very sharp teeth. They can do quite significant damage.”

A seal came inches from death as a great white shark was on the hunt for food off of Cape Cod.
In the video captured by Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, you can see just how close the seal was to becoming shark food, however, the lucky seal managed to leap just far enough away from the shark’s formidable bite.
The conservancy said that this was the first time they had witnessed a great white breach water during a hunt in Cape Cod waters.
“It’s really a testament to the speed and power that these animals can generate in such a short amount of space and time. It was able to literally come out of the water. It’s really amazing.” Skomal told the Boston Globe.
The most frightening part of the whole encounter was that it occured just 30 feet from shore in less than 10 feet of water.
The seal can be seen breeching water off the coast of Monomoy, Cape Cod.
Just seconds later, a huge shark breaks the water’s surface in an attempt to hunt the seal.
Despite the shark’s efforts, the seal just barely managed to escape death.
This amazing aerial photo shows the research team watching the great white shark attempt to prey on the seal.

There’s nothing worse than baking a beautiful cake masterpiece, only to destroy its magnificence when it comes time to serve. Seriously, what’s sadder than a cut up cake?
Thanks to Matthias Wandel’s ingenious knife invention, which cuts perfect hexagons out of food, baked goods can now taste good while looking good.
“This project started when Rachel said ‘Now I have to cut the cake into squares or triangles’. My immediate thought was ‘why not cut it into circles, or hexagons?’,” Wandel explained.
Fitted with a wooden handle, the knife is complete and ready for action.
In order to get perfect hexagon pieces of this banana bread, Wandel simply flips the knife after each cut.
And for those with OCD, watching the knife cut perfectly shaped hexagons is oddly satisfying and mesmerizing.
Take a look at the whole video to be mesmerized by this man’s ingenious cutting tool.
While there’s no news on if we’ll actually be able to buy this hexagon cake knife, it’s definitely going on my wish list! Would you buy a hexagon knife? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
In an alternate world, Disneyland, known as the happiest place on earth, would probably be the most miserable place on earth.
And thanks to the newest exhibition by world-famous graffiti artist Banksy, the world is now able to visit Dismaland.
The most gloomy amusement park in the world is set at an abandoned U.K. beach in the town of Weston-super-Mare, and features work from over 50 different artists, including Damien Hurst, Jenny Holzer, Jimmy Cauty, and of course, Banksy.
In Banksy’s interpretation of the ‘happiest place on earth’, it seems the Magic Kingdom was lacking its magic.
Park workers wear uniforms of hot pink vests with the word ‘DISMAL’ printed on the back.
Fitting with the theme park’s dreary personality, this attraction features rubber ducks covered in sludge from an oil spill.
In Dismaland’s version of Cinderella, rather than living happily ever after, the princess is involved in a carriage accident, which is photographed by the paparazzi.
“A dead princess is only complete when surrounded by gawping crowds with their cameras out, or the opportunity to photograph yourself pulling an amazed expression when a killer whale leaps from a toilet,” Banksy said.
Take a look at the entire video here to find out just what Dismaland, Disney’s polar opposite theme park, looks like, and try to spot some of Banksy’s signature street art.

While some of those tips may slightly help reduce the pesky hangover symptoms like having a splitting headache or being nauseas, nothing but time has ever been able to fully make you feel normal.
However, a recent study has revealed that the ultimate key to counteract too much drinking could be as simple as drinking pear juice.
Researchers aren’t sure yet what makes pear juice a miraculous hangover cure, but in a study by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CISRO), the Australian government’s scientific research organization, test subjects were given 220 mL – or slightly less than one cup- of Asian pear juice before drinking alcohol. Those who drank the pear juice had fewer hangover symptoms the next day.
Test subject’s ability to focus was greatly improve, and the juice’s anti-inflammatory properties mean headaches are greatly diminished, and even disappear.
The study’s lead researcher, Manny Noakes, believes that the enzymes in pear juice help to speed up alcohol metabolism, and somewhat hinder alcohol absorption.
While aspects of the study still need to be resolved like if eating the whole fruit or other pear juice varieties are as effective, researchers are clear that the hangover cure was only effective if consumed before getting drunk.
So, if your night looks something like this…
Be sure to drink your pear juice!

Some days, just the thought of dragging yourself to the gym is enough to give you anxiety. If you thought that dread was just you being lazy, it might be time to reconsider your exercise environment.
As it turns out, working out outdoors might be just what you need if you want to feel more energized, have more effective workouts, and stop hating on your body.
Take a look at these four unexpected reasons why you need to be exercising outside:
4. You’ll Burn More Calories
Our bodies adapt very quickly to familiar exercises done on machines in the gym like treadmills and stationary bikes. When we exercise outside, the terrain and the conditions are always varied. Think about how much harder you need to work when you go for a jog outdoors in the summer compared to running the same distance on an indoors treadmill. Not only do hills and different surfaces affect our workout, but wind, temperature, and humidity levels all challenge the body to work harder to compensate for those external forces.
3. It’ll Make You Happier
After a 30-minute walk, 71 percent of people who were outside felt less stressed while 72 percent of people indoors felt more stressed. According to a report published in Environmental Science and Technology, exercising outside boosts energy levels, positive thinking patterns, and boosts your feelings of revitalization. Not only is outdoor workouts physically beneficial, but mentally beneficial as well. Your mind responds better to your surroundings while outside, which make you want to work harder.
2. Sunshine Does the Body Good
Although sun exposure is often associated with increasing the risk of skin cancer, there are many beneficial health effects that are important to lead happy, healthy lives. Exposure to the sun can help strengthen your circadian rhythms, which will help you get better quality sleep. It also has been shown to improve immune function and increase the production of endorphins.
1. It Will Improve Your Self-esteem
While exercising in general leads to improved self-esteem levels, working out in the gym can trigger anxiety in those who are just starting out. There is a tendency to compare yourself to other gym members while in the gym, which actually might lower your self esteem and discourage you from working out. When you exercise outside, you won’t need to worry about the person two feet away from you hearing you wheeze during your run, because there most likely won’t be someone two feet away. Once you remove the anxiety triggers, you can focus on the actual workout, and start feeling good about your accomplishments.

When neighbors heard the sound of a crying puppy coming from a large well in the area, they called Animal Aid Unlimited, an animal rescue team based in India, to rescue the desperate animal.
The team works tirelessly to find, treat, and feed dozens of injured or abandoned street animals in need of being rescued to nurse them back to health. The organization provides life-long care for the animals that have no home in order to keep these rescued animals from falling victim to more suffering.
Luckily for this puppy, he was reunited with his mother immediately after being lifted from the well, and his joy was contagious.
A puppy fell into a well and neighbors heard him crying all night long. When our rescue team went down and brought the little guy back up top he ran as fast as he could to find his mom and didn’t stop wagging his tail.
The puppy was stuck in the well alone. People in the surrounding area could here his cries all night long.
When the animal rescue team found the dog, he was shaking and crying out for help.
While initially untrusting, the puppy finally finally allowed the man to bring him to safety.
With nothing but a makeshift rope harness, the team was able to lift the man and puppy out of the well.
The puppy could not contain his excitement as he was reunited with his mother.

Long distance relationships used to mean writing hand-written letters that you sent in the mail. Today, thanks to technological advancements, we have Skype, text, and Snapchat. Although these apps are useful, the same struggles of long distance still stand true.
While is may seem difficult, it is possible to make things work between you and your boyfriend or girlfriend as long as you both are willing to make some major changes to your behavior.
Take a look at these five things you need to know before entering a long distance relationship in order to go the distance:
5. You will make a lot of Sacrifices.
Part of the reason why long distance relationships are so challenging is that if you want it to work, the relationship has to be your number one priority at all times. Whether you’re sacrificing sleep, time with friends, or money, you will eventually run into a situation where sacrifices are necessary.
Being prepared for this, and keeping the end-game of being together in mind will help you come to terms with missing out on that girl’s night

4. Your schedule will be a delicate science.
I seriously once told my college advisor that I couldn’t take a class because it interfered with talking to my boyfriend. She was more concerned with my graduating, while I was only concerned with making my 16,000 mile long distance relationship work.
Whether there’s a 16-hour time difference, or none at all, it’s always hard to find 30 minutes to an hour of time every day that you can set aside to talk with your partner. Once you do find a time that works for you both, it’s important to prioritize your to-do list so you will realistically be able to make it work.
3. Trust is key.
There is no room in a long distance relationship for petty games, and trust issues. By agreeing to be in this type of relationship, you are accepting the fact that you have little to no control over your partner’s actions, and the sooner you come to terms with this, the better. If you try to control each other, you’ll just drive each other crazy.
All you can do is make each other a priority, and stick to your schedule (how romantic, I know) as much as possible. You’ll be able to tell if the effort is one sided, and that’s when it’s OK to be concerned.
2. There will be a lot of traveling.
Depending on how far away you are to your significant other, you may be traveling to another city every month. If the distance is further, you may not be able to afford to travel so frequently, but traveling is part of the long distance territory.
Finding time to see each other will be one of the most taxing (physically, emotionally, and monetarily) parts of the relationship, but when you do finally have a plan to see each other again, it helps take the pressure off of the situation. Seeing each other for the first time in months will also make you so much more appreciative of each other, and you’ll learn to never take the small things, like sitting on the same couch together, for granted.
1. People are going to assume the relationship won’t make it.
I get it. Things are stacked against us, and the statistics of long distant relationships lasting aren’t good. But no relationship is a guarantee, and we knew that from the start. Hearing these negative comments will never be pleasant, but try to take them with a grain of salt. No one can really know the ins and outs of your relationship but you and your partner, so as long as you both are making an equal effort there’s no need to get defensive.

Shopping for furniture with your boyfriend or girlfriend for can be boring, stress-enducing, and just plain time-consuming. In a recent shopping trip to IKEA, this man figured out a genius way to get out as quickly- and humorously- as possible.
While his puns may have tested the relationship, they also managed to make navigating the labyrinth of furniture much faster.
“What did the guy say at the miniature horse race? Good luktnypon-y.”
“Hey Donna, I’ve got you on my reidar.”
