Animal rescue teams dedicate their lives to finding and saving innocent animals from dire situations, yet one New York rescue team was shocked to their core when they found two starving dogs.
When rescuers from the SPCA serving Allegany County arrived at a trailer after in Whitesville, New York, they had no idea what they were about to find. Yet within minutes, they located two emaciated dogs and described the scene as “one of the worst cases of animal starvation in 10 years.”
One of the dogs they found, ‘Ace’, was clearly starving but in stable condition, yet the other dog, ‘Mooch’, was in critical condition and couldn’t stand or move his head. The team rated Mooch’s condition a 0.5/10, which means he was almost dead.
Not only were the dogs starved, but they had missing patches of fur, hundreds of scars, and bite wounds as the dogs were forced to fight for whatever food they could get. Luckily, the team got the dogs, who vets determined would have died within 48 hours, immediate care and have each gained 10 pounds since being rescued.
And as the dogs gain back their strength, their former owner Eugenio Charles, III faces charges including felony aggravated cruelty to animals and failure to provide proper sustenance in court this week.
