At six weeks old, puppies should be playing with their brothers and sisters, or bonding with their new human companions.
Instead, one six-week-old puppy from South Carolina was fighting for his life in February 2016 after a cruel teenager shot him 18 times with a BB gun. “There were 18 BBs inside the puppy’s body,” said Megan Fuller, a deputy solicitor prosecuting the case.
Luckily, the puppy who rescuers named Brody was rushed to a vet, who was amazed to see that none of the BBs caused and life-threatening damage especially since Brody was too young to be operated on. “The vet could not remove any of the BBs due to the young age of the puppy and all did thankfully miss the puppy’s vital organs,” Fuller said.
After spending some time recovering from his injuries and gaining strength, Brody was put up for adoption and has finally found a loving forever family. Police have also managed to find Demonte Douglas, the cruel teenage who was 17 at the time of the incident, and have just sentenced him to 18 months probation.
