Veterinarians dedicate their lives to helping animals in need, yet one Colorado vet is making headlines for going above and beyond to calm down an anxious dog before surgery.
This past month, veterinarian Dr. Ross Henderson was preparing for a spaying surgery for a dog named Ruby, and noticed she was incredibly anxious. The 28-year-old, who works with his father and brother at the Fox Hollow Animal Hospital, immediately stopped everything he was doing, took out his guitar, and started singing Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love.”
“Sometimes your patient just needs you to go the extra mile to make them feel comfortable when they’re here for the day to have surgery,” the hospital wrote in a post on their Facebook. “Dr. Ross has mastered the technique and sweet Ruby was so thankful for that.”
Henderson likes to use his musical talents to calm down animals and regularly practices with his dog and the office cat, and while he’s been praised for going above and beyond, he’s just happy to do anything that will help his patients. “It was a special moment,” Henderson said. “They just love us like crazy. You can’t repay for how much they give to us.”
