The moment someone finds out they’re going to be a parent is life-changing. But to make sure it was a moment her husband would never forget, one Texas woman got two local police officers to help break the news.
This past April, U.S. Army veteran Jarred had been driving home with his wife Nikki from the hospital, and the last thing he needed was getting pulled over and getting a ticket. “I’ve been struggling with my psychological disorders; being admitted to an inpatient hospital twice within the last 6 months and numerous Emergency Room visits due to panic and anxiety attacks,” Jarred explained.
He was understandably anxious as he waited for the officer to get out of the car, and couldn’t figure out what he possibly did wrong but started to relax when he saw it was an officer he knew well. “I actually met the officers in the video during a very traumatic panic episode in November 2016 and ever since he’s become a great advocate for my family and I,” Jarred said about Officer Colichia.
However, Jarred still couldn’t figure out what he had done to get pulled over, and was even more confused when Colichia said they were driving with a child in the back with no car seat. Jarred insisted the didn’t have a child, and as Colichia asks ‘Are you sure?’ Nikki holds up a positive pregnancy test. “We do have a child in the car with no car seat!” she said.
A second officer then walks up to the car and hands Jarred a gift bag with a onesie inside and a teddy bear revealing the baby is due on his birthday. “How do you feel?” Nikki asks. “I’m happy!” Jarred says as he starts to tear up.
