There’s nothing worse than baking a beautiful cake masterpiece, only to destroy its magnificence when it comes time to serve. Seriously, what’s sadder than a cut up cake?
Thanks to Matthias Wandel’s ingenious knife invention, which cuts perfect hexagons out of food, baked goods can now taste good while looking good.
“This project started when Rachel said ‘Now I have to cut the cake into squares or triangles’. My immediate thought was ‘why not cut it into circles, or hexagons?’,” Wandel explained.
Fitted with a wooden handle, the knife is complete and ready for action.
In order to get perfect hexagon pieces of this banana bread, Wandel simply flips the knife after each cut.
And for those with OCD, watching the knife cut perfectly shaped hexagons is oddly satisfying and mesmerizing.
Take a look at the whole video to be mesmerized by this man’s ingenious cutting tool.
While there’s no news on if we’ll actually be able to buy this hexagon cake knife, it’s definitely going on my wish list! Would you buy a hexagon knife? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
