While most cats like to be left alone and are aloof, this 5-year-old cat living in Norway is the exact opposite. According to her owner, the Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest cat mix named Nala loves nothing more than seeking attention when their focus is on the television instead of her.

Owner Alexander Fredrikson decided to compile a hysterical video of all the ways Nala likes to interrupt his video game playing as she reminds him who’s boss.

The minute Alexander sits back on his couch, Nala comes running in to ruin his game time.

Nashville actress Clare Bowen is making headlines after cutting off her long blonde hair to send a message to young cancer sufferers that hair, and looks in general, don’t define a person or make them beautiful.

Clare was diagnosed with end stage nephroblastoma, a kidney cancer, when she was four years old. After losing her hair from chemotherapy treatments, she learned that physical appearances don’t define a person.

“I was really inspired when I heard a story about a little girl who said she couldn’t be a princess because she didn’t have long hair, and I wanted her, and others like her to know that’s not what makes a princess, or a warrior, or a superhero,” Clare explained in a Facebook Post. “It’s not what makes you beautiful either. It’s your insides that count… even if you happen to be missing half of them.”

Whether by choice, or by circumstance, these 11 women prove that hair isn’t what makes someone beautiful.

Single Dad Writes Emotional Letter About Life as a Young Parent

In a touching letter, one young, single dad from Las Vegas opens up about the struggles he’s faced raising his 10-month old daughter, and the wonders that have kept him going.

Richard Johnson, 21, posted his letter to Life of Dad, a Facebook group for fathers, which was the first thing that gave him hope that he would be able to take care of his young daughter, Persephone. Since the letter was originally posted to the page, it has garnered worldwide attention, and received over 15,000 likes and 551 shares so far.

In the letter, Johnson explains that Persephone’s mother left a month after she was born because of suspected post-partum depression issues. In the first few weeks alone with his daughter, Johnson was terrified of the daunting task, and wasn’t sure he would be good enough.

“I had read every ‘new parent’ book I could find and clocked in over 1000 hours in YouTube videos from everything to braiding hair and painting nails to theories on how to deal with common parental issues. I then started to watch your page more closely and saw that there were other fathers out there who were in similar predicaments as me. The page started to turn into a major confidence booster and really helped me through all of this.”

Johnson explained that he and his daughter had come a long way since the beginning, and thanked the social media page for giving him examples of other great dads in similar situations.

After receiving so much positive feedback, Johnson explained in another post how surprised he was by the attention his letter is getting.

“You truly can’t understand how much everyone’s words mean to me. I am constantly criticizing myself on how I can be a better father and this was just the right medicine I needed. When I got the message from Life of Dad stating they had uploaded my message I was more than eager to see it. Never in my wildest dreams would I suspect so many of you would see it. Let alone how many of you would comment on it.

“I come from a family of divorce and was raise by a single mother. When my father left when I was 6 I didn’t know I wouldn’t see or hear from him again until I was 21. So being that I never had a father it was truly frightening to become one. Even more so when I was going to do it alone. I didn’t have time to be worried though because that beautiful little girl needed a parent who could be her rock and would love her to pieces. In my mind there was no other option.”

Johnson describes the countless nights he spent in tears as he help his little girl because he wan’t sure if he was going to make it another day. When Persephone crawled up to him one night, laid her hand on his cheek, and stared into his eyes, he decided that his days of crying were over. Instead, he would fight everyday for the both of them to be happy, and has kept true on his promise.

What You Need to Do If You’re Sick of the Kardashians

Whether you love them or hate them, the Kardashians – and all their drama- are addicting. Go to the comment section of any article written about the family, and you’re guaranteed to read complaints about how people are sick of seeing and reading about them. However, this begs the question, if you can’t stand them, why click on them?

Because people can’t seem to understand that in the world of online media, what you click on is essentially what you’re voting to see more of, apps like KardBlock and Kardashian Filter are trying to instigate a widespread Kardaishian withdrawal.

Last may, 21-year-old marketer James Shamsi set out to block all things Kardashian with his browser extension KardBlock. In an interview with The Daily Beast Shamsi explained:

“Basically, what was happening was that there were Kardashians everywhere, and I wanted to do something about that. But for me, when I follow pages, I am not doing it to get a constant stream of updates on the Kardashians.”

Shamsi was frustrated that Kardashian news crushed the deeper, more important issues he actually cared about on practically every platform. However, the Kardashians are just the start for these topic blocking browser extensions.

“Our ultimate goal is even bigger than just that. We are looking to disrupt the entire digital advertising space. We want to replace all advertising with donation links and important news widgets,” Shamsi explained.

Unfortunately, in the few months following KardBlock’s release, the app received terrible ratings, with users complaining the extension didn’t work. Yet those who still want to silence all the Kardashian noise, are now turning to chiralsoftware’s Kardashian Filter browser extension.

With the Kardashian Filter extension applied, a website would look like this:

Bella Burton was diagnosed with Morquio syndrome when she was just 2 and a half years old. The rare genetic condition makes normal childhood activities like bike riding and running.

The syndrome occurs in about 1 in every 200,000 births, and can lead to organ damage, abnormal development of the bones and spine, paralysis, and heart issues. Bella mobility was already deteriorating, but then she met a 2-year-old Great Dane named George, and she was suddenly able to do all the things other kids could do easily.

Before George came along, running, riding bikes, and even walking was a challenge for Bella. She often needed crutches and even a wheelchair to get around.

For celebrities, social media gives them the ability to interact with fans, and set rumors straight. However, not all celebrities can see the appeal of social media when it means giving up the privacy they’ve worked hard to achieve.

Alex and Brittney spent most of their childhood bouncing back and forth between living in foster homes and living with their abusive and neglectful mother. Yet, they were together through it all, and Alex did everything he could to protect his sister, despite being a child himself.

Unfortunately, siblings who enter foster homes tend to get split up during adoptions, but luckily Alex and Brittney found a forever home together. After taking just one look at a picture of the brother and sister, the family knew they had to adopt Alex and Brittney together.

Alex still remembers life with his birth mother, and explains he “saw her doing a lot of smoke and not paying attention to me and my sister.” Despite their situation, Alex would make sure Brittney didn’t see everything their mother put them through.

“I remember my old mom wasn’t treating me nice when I was little,” Alex said. “She was having fights. She wouldn’t see Brittney, so I’d pick her up and I’d take her to a place where the fighting isn’t happening.”

Veterans show their courage in many ways. This veteran showed his as he helped an injured marathon runner cross the finish line.

As Saturday’s Rock’n’Roll Marathon started in Savannah, Georgie, it became clear that the already arduous event would be even more difficult due to the extreme humidity and warmth. Medical officials implemented a comprehensive heat plan, and inspiring servicemen like Sgt. John Cain were prepared to help any way they could.

Because of the extreme heat and humidity, medical officials decided to divert many runners, however many were still able to cross the finish line.

“My heart started bleeding for him,” Cain said, “so I asked the EMTs if I could walk him to the finish line, would that be OK, and they said OK and followed behind.”

According to the 28-year veteran officer, “I helped pick him up and tears were coming from his eyes and we walked towards the finish. You could almost feel the happiness coming from him.”

Although the recent attacks in Paris, which left at least 129 dead and 352 injured, happened hundreds of miles away, you can do more than just change your Facebook profile picture. No matter where you live around the world, there are a number of ways you can make a positive difference.

Here are the top 5 things you can do to actually make a difference for everyone affected by last week’s attacks.

5. Donate to the Croix-Rouge

Since the attacks on Friday, the French Red Cross has sent out over 300 volunteers to help survivors, and have established help centers.

To help the emergency organization, which has an active presence in Paris, donate directly to the French Red Cross here.

4. Offer your home

Whether you’re in Paris, or you’re in the United States, you can help those that have been displaced since the attacks. Not only are people stranded in Paris, but French tourists have been left stranded abroad after flight cancelations and border closings.

If you’re in Paris, use the hashtag #PorteOuverte, and if you’re in the U.S., use the tag #StrandedInUS to give someone temporary housing.

If you or someone you know is in need of a place to stay, Airbnb has set up a disaster relief tool to connect hosts and visitors in need. The company is also waiving service fees through November 17 for those affected.

3. Help Locate Missing People

Unfortunately, Doctors and Nurses receive lawsuits today more often than a ‘thank you.’ Many of these life-saving workers dedicate their entire lives to others, however, only a few have every been contacted by a patient and been thanked for their tireless work.

Which is exactly why so many were taken off guard when this mom reached out to all the people who worked to save the life of her 14-week-old son who had been in a deadly car crash.

In 2004 Kellie, her husband, and their 14-week-old son were in a deadly car crash. Her husband was killed instantly, and Eli was in critical condition. Doctors told Kellie that if Eli even survived, he probably would never be able to talk, walk, or show emotion.

But just a week later, Eli was taken home where he grew up healthy and strong just like any other kid.

Kellie never forgot the medical team’s service, and 10 years later, she wanted to find every single person who saved her son and thank them for all that they did.

“I’ve never been thanked after the fact,” Suzy said. “This is really special. This is really nice.”

Firefighters risk their lives everyday when they selflessly run into burning buildings to save complete strangers. For Patrick Hardison, running into burning buildings was just part of the job.

However, in 2001, the then 41-year-old firefighter from Mississippi suffered horrific burns when a burning roof collapsed on him, and melted through his face mask.

After the fire, doctors used skin from his leg to cover her face and head, but the burns were so bad that he lost his ears, lips, most of his nose, and pretty much all of his eyelids. Despite the constant stairs from people, Patrick continued to live his life.

This past August Patrick was admitted to New York University’s Langone Medical Center to undergo the most extensive face transplant surgery ever. A team of surgeons works for 26 hours to cut the scarred facial tissue off of Patrick, and replace it with the face of a brain-dead man named David Rodebaugh:

100 people worked in two teams throughout the complicated surgery, which the team now considers a success. Three months later, the lower part of his face is still swollen, but with more time and a few more surgeries, it will go away.

It’s been years since the accident, but Patrick will finally regain a normal field of vision, and for the first time in years, he is able to go out in public without all the social anxiety that had become almost normal to him.

Occasionally someone will notice that something is off with his face, but Patrick explains “I used to get stared at all the time, but now I’m just an average guy.”

Blind people cannot see with their eyes, but those without sight depend on their other senses like touch, smell, taste, and sound to ‘see’. In order to see someone’s face, many blind people rely on their sense of touch to get a sense of someone’s facial features.

In the video, 30-year-old Tatiana, who lost her sight at 17, is 20-weeks pregnant, and explains that she can’t wait until her son is born so that she can finally ‘see’ him by holding him, and feeling his little face.

However, her doctor has other plans, and figures out a genius was to allow Tatiana to ‘see’ her son before he’s born.

Tatiana’s doctor asks her what she images her son looks like, she says “I imagine him… well… his nose like a little potato. A small mouth… like that… a chubby little hand.”

When faced with the impossible task of making his small son understand the horrors of the recent attacks, this father gave the perfect explanation.

In the video, a reporter from Le Petit Journal asks a young boy if he understands what happened, and why the attackers did what they did.

“Yes, because they’re really really mean. Bad guys are not very nice. And… we have to be really careful because we have to change houses.”

The adorable boy was afraid that they’d have to move because the bad people were in Paris, but his dad explains that France is their home, and that there are bad people everywhere. And when his son says that the mean people have guns that could shoot them, this incredible father had the perfect response.

“It’s ok, they might have guns but we have flowers,” the father explained. When the boy said that flowers couldn’t do anything, the father points to all the people putting down flowers and lighting candles. “It’s to fight against guns,” he says.

We are living in an increasingly hostile world filled with loss, sadness, and tragedy. Yet, this world is also full of joy, magic, and love. The only difference is how you choose to look at it.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama believes that each person has the power to live compassionately, and change the future for the better. He has dedicated his life to teaching the world compassion and love, and his words are all the more important as we are faced with the choice of love or hate every single day.

15. What’s inside is far more important than the outside.

14. Anger is never the solution.

13. You decide what the future will be like.

12. Prayer alone won’t change the world.

11. Loving yourself and others is the most important thing.

10. Compassion is the key to inner strength.

9. The truth is stronger than guns.

8. Being strong means being compassionate.

7. You have the ability to make the world a better place.

6. Happiness depends on you, not circumstance.

5. Compassion is a commitment.

4. Finding fault in others is useless.

3. Your happiness depends on others.

2. Forgiveness is the cure to anger.

1. Turn the negative into a positive.
