A Homeless Man’s Dog Was Going To Die Without Treatment, But Then A Hero Pays For It In Full

Dog owners would do anything and pay anything to make sure their furry best friends are happy and healthy, but a homeless man was crushed to find out his dog was going to die without getting an expensive treatment from the vet since he couldn’t afford it.

When 14-year-old Pit Mix named Ripp got sick with pneumonia, his owner Robert brought him to an emergency clinic. In order to save his beloved dog’s life, the emergency vet was charging $4,000 plus additional costs for follow-up treatments, but Robert had recently been going through a tough financial situation that caused him to lose his home and was in no way able to afford such a high bill.

Just as Robert started to panic at the thought of losing his companion, Chris Hughes, who founded the Mr. Mo Project to help save senior dogs from shelters across the East Coast as well as assist owners in need with vet and food costs, walked into the same veterinarian’s office.

After hearing about Robert and Ripp’s situation, Chris immediately offered his help and the help of the Mr. Mo Project. Chris paid the $4,000 bill in full, and transferred Ripp to the VCA’s Animal Health Center once he was doing a bit better.

With the support of the Mr. Mo Project, Ripp will continue to recover at the health center. Once he is better, he will stay with a temporary foster parent, which will give Robert some time to focus on getting himself back on his feet.

“Once his Dad is ready Ripp will go back to his dad where he really wants to be but will remain in the project and we will continue to take care of all his vetting so his Dad can worry about himself and not about Ripps needs,” and update to Facebook explained.

While cops might not spend every second of their day chasing down bad guys or setting out on dangerous missions, they always have to be prepared for the worst and be willing to sacrifice their own life to protect someone else.

To help ease his family’s concerns and to protect him while on duty, Cleveland County Deputy Jordan Perkins started an adorable ritual with his kids. Each day before setting off for work, Perkins sits and prays with his kids so that he returns home safely every day.

“It makes me feel a lot better, a lot safer, knowing that I’ve got people looking out for me at home,” Perkins said after his wife Kelsie’s picture of him and his kids praying together went viral.

Most full-time college students are worried about getting their school work done so they can figure out their weekend plans, but while everyone was out partying, one college student was taking on as many jobs as possible to keep a promise he made when he was in second grade.

For the past six years, 24-year-old Stefun Darts has spent all of his free time working different jobs like cooking at a Pizza Hut to answering phones for a customer service department to save up $15,000, which is the amount of money his grandparents needed to finish paying off their mortgage.

Cecil and Marilyn Roberts, Stefun’s hard-working grandparents, had taken him in to live at their home when he was in firs grade, and since then, Stefun vowed to pay off their mortgage once he saved up the money.

“I couldn’t stand you going to work at night, some nights I didn’t even sleep knowing it shouldn’t be like this,” Stefun wrote on a post to his Facebook.

Besides working non-stop over the years, Stefun tried not to spend too much money on food, and gave up much of his social life becuase it would mean wasting money on alcohol. Stefun’s grandparents couldn’t believe their grandson’s incredible gift, which also included two tickets for a trip to the Bahamas, but his sacrifices were worth it when he got to see their reactions to finding out they no longer had a mortgage to pay.

“Even with this, I could never repay you for what you’ve done for me. I sacrificed my teenage and early adulthood of not having fun for this moment,” Stefun said.

Police officers are trained to see and handle almost any situation, but Baltimore Police Officer Ashley Acord never expected to find a new four-legged partner while patrolling the city’s neighborhoods.

At first, Acord only stopped at an abandoned house after noticing some suspicious activity around the house and decided to get out and check to make sure everything was ok. “No one was supposed to be there,” Acord said. Yet after calling for backup, the only thing she found was a gray and white dog who had been tied to a doorknob.

“He was actually groomed pretty well. He didn’t show any signs of aggression. He just seemed like he wanted to attention,” Acord said of the terrier mix.

Acord planned to drop the abandoned pup off at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, but by the time they arrived, they had already bonded and had become attached to each other.

As soon as she walked in the animal shelter’s door, Acord filled out and submitted an adoption application. When no one came to claim the 10-month-old after a few days, Acord got to officially bring the dog, which she named Grayson, home.

Waitress Mom Is Destroyed When Cheap Customers Leave $0 Tip

Anyone who has ever worked as a waiter or waitress at a restaurant will know how vital tips are since restaurants pay only a few dollars an hour to their servers, who must find a way to live off such small earnings.

On average, servers make under $22,000 a year, as many only make between $2-5 per hour. To make up for such low wages, servers rely on their customers to tip between 15 to 20 percent of their bill. However, when 22-year-old Taylar Cordova, a young mother and waitress at a Colorado P.F. Chang’s, finally finished serving a table of customers who had consumed $187 worth of food and drinks, she was destroyed to see she was left with a $0 tip.

To remind people how important it is to always tip servers, Taylar decided to post a picture of the bill to her Facebook wall along with her powerful reaction.

“I STRUGGLE to put clothes on my daughter’s back and food in our bellies because of THIS. You, are the lowest of the low. Whenever you feel like it’s probably fine to not tip your server, that’s one more bill stacking up because they’re short on money. This is food for the week that our families will go without because you didn’t think it was necessary,” Taylar wrote.

“Servers are paid a base pay of $2-5/hr depending on the employer, so next time you don’t want to tip, regardless of the situation prior to receiving your bill, think about how much you would have to work that week off $2-5/hr to feed your family, not just you. Could you pay your bills based on that pay alone? Could you feed your family AND yourself?”

Dogs live for play time. If they could, they would spend the entire day- apart from eating, of course- playing and having fun with their favorite human, which is exactly what this clever dog attempts to do.

While out at the park one afternoon, this silly Golden Retriever got the feeling his time to run wild and play fetch at the park was coming to an end, and started to get so desperate to stay that he was willing to do just about anything. In the end, the golden pup was too lazy to run away, so he decided to fake his own death.

Dad tried all of his usual tricks to get his lazy four-legged best friend to get up so they could finally get home, but nothing seemed to work- not even when dad tried to pull him up from the ground.

However, dad finally thought of the one thing that could possibly break this pup from his act, and used that weakness to his advantage. With a stick in hand, dad finally revived his stubborn Golden Retriever from playing dead.

Cop Finds ‘Dangerous’ Lost Pup And Bonds Instantly When He Steps In To Help

Many people unfairly assume muscly dog breeds like Pit bulls, Bulldogs, and Rottweilers are innately mean and dangerous, which is why no one stepped in to help this sweet pup, who had been lost and looked lonely and disoriented.

Deputy Donald Molchan was out on patrol in the area when he first spotted the dog wandering around outside of a gas station on his own. He immediately stopped to see if he could help the dog, who was neutered and wearing a collar, find his owners or, at the very least, help him get to a shelter safely.

Despite his ‘dangerous’ appearance, the Pit bull melted when finally shown some love. “It became clear almost immediately that the dog was just a big friendly pup looking for his home,” the sheriff’s department wrote in a post to Facebook. “Deputy Molchan described the dog as super friendly, playful and comfortable around people.”

Molchan managed to feed the dog, give him water, and then finally snapped a few selfies with the sweet dog before giving him a ride to the Pima Animal Care Center where his family will hopefully find him.

Everyone always remembers the first time getting pulled over by the police, and it’s a pretty traumatizing experience for most. However, this precious little girl had this police officer in the palm of her tiny hand after being pulled over for the first time.

Not only was 1-year-old Avery driving without a license OR a seatbelt, but Officer Erik Castillo spotted her swerving all over the grass while patrolling Roeding Park in Southwest Fresno, CA on Easter Sunday. Castillo then decided to pull her over in a pretend traffic stop to talk to the sweet little girl.

Despite committing numerous traffic violations in her convertible sports car, Avery was all smiles when Castillo pulled her over.

Approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of food gets thrown away each year, which is not only wasteful, but so disappointing considering 1 in 9 people on our planet go hungry every night.

While one person alone can’t fix the problem, this woman decided to do her part in ending hunger in her community. Minu Pauline is the owner of the Pappada Vada restaurant in Kochi, India, and knew all too well how much food was getting wasted each day when people were going hungry and struggling to stay alive.

To help put an end to food waste, Minu decided to install a fridge in front of the restaurant for anyone to use. Minu welcomed the community to bring in leftover food that is still good to the fridge, which she is paying to keep running 24/7.

So far, the ‘Nanma Maram‘ fridge has been a hit with the locals, and apart from community donations, the restaurant stocks the fridge with 50 fresh food packets each day for he homeless.

Soldier Mom Orders Special Portrait With The Sweet Daughter She Was Accused Of Killing

No mother, especially one who is just 23-years-old, should ever have to bury their own child, which is exactly why one photographer took pity on the young mom who reached out to him to create a special portrait after she lost her two-year-old daughter.

“She is 23 years old and that is young to lose a child,” photographer Sunny Jo said. “And I just felt for her. This was terrible. This poor girl just lost her daughter. This must be the most heartbreaking thing in the world. So when she asked me to do the photos I said absolutely. I just knew that one way or another I wanted to get the pictures done for what I thought at the time was a grieving mother.”

Mother Jeanie Ditty, an active soldier at Fort Bragg, lost daughter Macy Grace on December 4, 2015, just two days after being found unresponsive and taken to the hospital.

While trying to save Macy, doctors and nurses had found bruises covering the toddler’s body, which launched an investigation to determine what had happened to Macy and what had caused her death.

But in the months that followed Macy’s death, Jeanie kept on living her life and had contacted Sunny, who creates portraits of families with loved ones who have passed away, to create a portrait of her and Macy. “She did offer to pay and out of the goodness of my heart I said, ‘No, I can’t let you pay for this,” Sunny said. “I thought to myself, ‘Sunny you can’t charge someone who just went through this.’ She loved them.”

However, after the three-month investigation was finished, it was revealed that Jeanie and her boyfriend Zachary Keefer were responsible for Macy’s death, and the two have been charged with murder.

“I couldn’t sleep since this happened,” Sunny said. “The only thing that helps me out is me thinking I didn’t do it for Jeanie I did it for the spirit of Macy.”

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time can make all the difference in your life, and if this 21-year-old Army reservist was running just eight seconds late or early, he never would have seen a sign that would give him the opportunity to save a stranger’s life.

21-year-old Army reservist Nate Toci was driving home from work on Interstate 25 in Monument when he passed by a rotating billboard sign that read “Kesley Needs A Kidney” and in that moment, Nate knew he had to find a way to help. “It’s a digital sign and it’s on for 8 seconds,” Debbie Crider, Kelsey’s mom, said. “Eight seconds and then it goes away and the next one comes up.”

“I felt like I had to do it,” Nate said after seeing the sign. “It wasn’t a question. It was like, ‘I’m doing this. Whatever it takes.’” But before he could get ahead of himself, Nate had to first get tested to see if his kidney was even a match.

Incredibly, the tests showed Nate has Type O blood, which was a perfect match for Kelsey Crider, who had been diagnosed with kidney disease when she was just 17 and has since received three other kidney transplants in 10 years.

Despite some initial complications for Kelsey, both surgeries went well, and the two were finally able to meet each other and bond as they both recovered. “Nate is the kind of guy that will just go out and give himself to other people,” Crider said of the once stranger who is now like family.

“It gave me such good hopes for the future, not just for my daughter but for the country,” Debbie Crider said. “It’s like yeah, there are good people out there.”

Goats might not be the quickest creatures in the animal kingdom, yet this unruly runaway goat was fast enough to get away from not one, but two Norfolk, Virginia police officers.

This rogue goat was originally spotted aimlessly wandering around by a man and woman who had been picking up their child at school, yet as soon as Animal Control Officers Blankenship and Calnan arrived at the scene, the goat took off. Luckily, the two officers managed to safely capture the goat after a short chase.

In a post to Facebook, the Norfolk Police Department explained that “No charges will be filed against the goat! He was just enjoying the springtime weather.”  The goat’s owner had not been aware that it was illegal to keep a goat in the city, but luckily police didn’t press charges for that either

Incredible Shelter Removes Breed Labels Because People Unfairly Judge Certain Breed

‘Dangerous’ and ‘vicious’ dog breeds like Pit bulls, bulldogs, and Rottweilers have proven time and time again that they can be just as friendly and as loving as any Golden Retriever, yet people still unfairly judge them and assume that they must be mean if they have big teeth and a muscly body.

Not only are these assumptions unfair, but they also are affecting which kinds of dogs get adopted more, and which breeds get left behind more often. According to a study conducted by Arizona State University, researchers found that dogs that were labeled as certain breeds would spend longer periods of time in the shelter compared to other breeds. For example,

For example, dogs labeled as Pit Bulls spent on average three times more time sitting in the shelter than ‘friendlier’ dogs like Labrador Retrievers.

To put an end to this unfair judgment, the Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) decided to completely change the way they present each dog. “Breeds are an aspect of a dog but they don’t make up everything about that dog,” Michael Moorfield of the AAWL said.

“Their personality, their temperament, the life they have led so far before you meet them in the shelter. Those life experiences really make up who that dog is, more than who their parents were five years ago or what their color markings make you think they are as a breed,” he explained.

Rather than just list the dog’s name and breed, the AAWL decided to focus on what kind of environment they would thrive in, and anything that might be construed as negative is rephrased in a positive way. Myrtle, for example, has no mention of breed type, and instead of saying ‘no small children’ the shelter explained that she’d be best suited for kids middle-school-aged and older.

Amazing Dad Lets His ‘Gender Creative’ Son Give Him Makeovers

Many dads struggle to find bonding activities to do with their sons when they don’t share any common interests, however, this incredible dad is proving the important thing isn’t what you do together, but that you do something together at all.

When Matt and Lori Duron first noticed their youngest son C.J.’s preference for stereotypical ‘girly’ things like dresses and makeup, they first thought he might be gay, but their youngest son has since made it clear that it was his gender, not his sexuality, that was in question.

Since then, Matt and Lori have become their son’s biggest supporters and advocate for his self-described ‘gender-creative’ identity. “We were looking for other families to connect to because we were trying to figure out how to deal with C.J., and so I started [my blog] to be the thing that I was looking for,” Lori said of her reason to start their blog “Raising My Rainbow.”

In a recent blog post, “Real Dads Let Their Sons Do Their Makeup,” Matt shared how he lets C.J. give him makeovers whenever he wants. “A couple of years ago, C.J. asked if I would allow him to do my makeup. Of course I said yes,” Matt said. “Why wouldn’t I? Why wouldn’t I want to be a part of something that brings joy to my son’s life?”

Rather than shut him out, and make him feel ashamed of his interests, Matt wants to make sure that C.J. knows that he will do anything with his son, as long as they get to spend quality time together. “While he’s doing my makeup, he talks about everything. From what’s going on at school to which eye shadow brings out my blue eyes,” Matt explained. “When I agree wholeheartedly as he discusses what makeup colors go with my skin tone, I’m teaching him that his opinions and tastes matter to me. I’m teaching him that I’ll listen to him when he wants to talk and I will find time for him even when I’m busy.”

“My son doing my makeup is the same as a dad throwing a football with his son. It’s not about what you are doing together; it’s about doing it together. It’s about encouraging your children to engage with you. It’s about spending time with your child doing something they enjoy doing.”

A Pastor Is Adopting Two Baby Brothers Who Were Found In The Trash

The old saying ‘another man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ could not be truer for a Florida pastor and his wife.

When Florida ministries worker Mark Purcell was closing down and getting ready to go home one evening, he saw four or five trash bags lying on the ground outside. Yet as he got closer, he found two small children huddled between the trash bags in nothing but diapers.

Purcell and the Metropolitan Ministries later learned that the two boys were brothers, and they and their parents were homeless and living in a tent in the woods. Pastor Ronnie Stewart recognized the family because they regularly attended the Refuge Church’s soup kitchen, and asked if he could take the boys home to clean them up and let them get warm.

“They were covered in bug bites, head to toe. They were so filthy, that we actually had to bathe, and drain, and bathe again, two different times. The toddler who did have shoes on didn’t have any socks on. When we took his shoes off, the little skin on the top of his feet actually came off,” wife Krystal said.

But that one night turned into five months when the boys’ parents asked if they would take the 7-month and 2-year-old in, otherwise, they would be taken away by a social worker. “We just looked at each other and knew, there was no other option. Of course we said yes,” Krystal said.

The boys parents have since signed over custody to the Stewarts, and Ronnie and Krystal, who already have three kids of their own, are in the process of adopting the boys officially. “We don’t look at it as we are something special, we know that they are special, and we’re just excited to be part of their journey,” Krystal said.

Animals have proven to be incredibly useful for detecting faint details that are virtually undetectable to the human nose, eyes, or ears, which is why it wasn’t too far of a stretch to believe that a police department was training pigs for a new drug detection unit.

To kick off April Fools’ Day, the Tasmanian Police Department released an impressive announcement this morning, which has been shared over 7,000 times in just a few hours, that informed the public that the department had been training pigs to use their adorable snouts to sniff out drugs.

“With pigs commonly believed to be among the smartest of animals, Tasmania Police will be the first in the country to develop a Narcotic Detection Swine Unit. The pigs have proven their capability in the field of truffle detection and experts suggest that it’s a logical next step,” the department wrote in their Facebook announcement.

Scenes like this with dogs sniffing out drugs and other substances at schools, airports, and crime scenes have become all too familiar, which is why many at first believed the department was really starting a pig unit.

However, many caught on to the prank as the department went on to explain: “When they detect a banned substance, they run around in circles singing LaLaLa until they get a carrot. Some prefer apples.”

If you’re like most people, going to the dentist is a downright traumatizing experience, but this genius dentist has found a way to make patients not just relax during visits, but actually look forward to going.

To help calm down anxious and scared patients, the Pediatric Dentistry of Northbrook added a new four-legged helper named JoJo to their staff. JoJo is a trained Golden Retriever comfort dog who can sense when people are nervous and uneasy, and helps to calm them down. “She loves coming in. She’s very well trained and knows what she’s doing,” staff member Veronica Renteria said. “We all benefit from her so much.”

“A lot of the time, those patients would need nitrous oxide or other sedative to help them relax,” Renteria said. “But when JoJo comes in with them and sits in the chair, they’re comforted. They can just sit and pet her as they’re getting their teeth cleaned. She does a great job with them.”

Not only does JoJo help the patients at the Illinois clinic, but her presence even improves the doctor’s work environment as well.

“When the patients are very anxious or scared, they tend to move around a lot,” Renteria said. “When JoJo is there, the appointments go much smoother and quicker for them. And the doctor gets to perform the work as it’s meant to be done.”

Most high school teenaged boys spend any of their extra cash on pricey video games, cool new sneakers, or even on alcohol to look cool at a party, which is exactly why one man was suspicious when 15-year-old Cody Mitschelin knocked on his door and offered to mow his lawn for $5.

However, 37-year-old neighbor Ryan Cox was pleasantly surprised to hear the real reason why Cody was working so hard to earn some extra money. “This 14-year-old boy came by the house with a lawnmower wanting to mow our lawn for $5. Well…me being a hustler I had to ask this kid why you mowing lawns? He replied with… ‘I’d like to take my girlfriend to lunch tomorrow and I don’t have enough money.’,” Cox explained.

Cox was so stunned by Cody’s response that he decided to help him find more customers, and ultimately made $45, which was enough to cover the cost of their lunch date and a nice bouquet of flowers. “When I told my girlfriend that I made $45, she was really proud of me and said, ‘That’s my man!'” Cody told TODAY

When Cody and his 17-year-old girlfriend Audrey Fierro, who have been dating for 6 months, arrived for their lunch date at Safari Pizza, they saw that their table had been set for their romantic date. The owner had heard about Cody’s hard work, and wanted to help make it special with the decorations, and told them that their meal would be on the house.

Cody still wanted to spend his hard earned cash on Audrey, however, so later took her out for ice cream, donuts, and candy, as well as bought her a baseball hat.

“I’m so happy this still exists… Hope is still alive for the future generation and our sons and daughters,” Cox wrote in a post to Facebook that has since gone viral. “I’m impressed by whoever is raising this boy, great job!!!”

Getting into college is a remarkable achievement for anyone, but it was especially exciting for one Philadelphia teen, as many assumed it was a step she’d never get to take.

Rachel Grace, a high school senior with Down syndrome, originally considered four special-needs schools, but wanted to get the full college experience as well as move out and be more independent. Rachel found the East Stroudsburg University, which is located in Pennsylvania, and decided to apply to their Career, Independent Living & Learning Studies program for young adults with intellectual disabilities since it had everything she wanted in a school.

“They go to class, they cheer on the Warriors, they go to the cafeteria, they wake up for that 8 a.m. Monday class,” College of Education Dean Terry Barry said of the CILLS students.

Finally, after tediously waiting to hear back about her application, Rachel’s mom Deb handed her a big letter from the school, and asked her to read what it said out loud.

This Hero Soldier Was Finally Reunited With His K-9 Partner After Being Painfully Separated For Months

Throughout their deployment as military combat dogs, each military K-9 saves about 150 to 200 soldiers by detecting IEDs and hidden weapon caches that would otherwise go unnoticed by their human handler.

However, when it comes time to come back from war, these soldiers and their four-legged partners are often separated at a time when they need each other the most. Staff Sgt. Justin had served on 50 missions throughout three deployments in Afghanistan with his military dog partner Bond, who had spent every waking second fighting, sleeping, and eating together, yet when it was time to return home and transition back into civilian life, the two “battle buddies” were torn from each other.

Rather than help each other heal from the invisible trauma of war, Justin was left to try and heal on his own while Bond was sent to train to become a police dog for the Pine Mountain Police Department.

“Bond has been Justin’s comrade, companion, and only solace at times, for years,” Justin’s girlfriend Sarah said. “I’ve watched him care for and love this dog like a pet and best buddy, for a long time. The one and only time I’ve ever seen Justin cry in my life was the day he had to say goodbye to this dog.”

Sarah had sat by and watched  helplessly as Justin struggled to adjust to civilian life and struggled with the pain from being separated with his  steadfast companion, and finally decided to reach out to the American Humane Association, which she hoped could help reunite the two.

Finally, after painfully being separated for months, Bond and Justin were reunited for good when the police department agrees to give Bond back to his handler. “Words cannot describe how happy I am, and I am sure if Bond could speak English he would tell you the same. Hey, he might even shake your hand! Three combat deployments together can truly forge a lifelong bond. Bond has been my best buddy during those times,” Justin said. “It means a lot that I can now give him the relaxing life he has earned.”

“It was the right thing to do.  We can obtain a new dog.  They funded that project for us.  Anything we can do to give back to the community, especially as police officers and steward of this community that’s something we decided together to do,” Lt. Daniel Ferrone said.
