Cops might not have superhuman powers like the superheroes in comic books and movies, but they still get up every day and put their own lives in harm’s way in order to make the world a safer place for total strangers.

Officer Damon Cole from the Fort Worth Police Department started the day like any other day, but one emergency call had him wishing for the first time that he had super powers. Cole was the first to arrive at the scene where he found a frantic mother searching for her 5-year-old son Joshua in a friend’s pool. The pool was full with murky water and was littered with garbage, so Cole had to dive to the bottom to search for the boy since it was impossible to see below the surface.

Cole bumped into the boy’s body as he made his way back to the surface, yet he had been submerged under the water for nearly 15 minutes by the time he was rescued, and not even the hour of CPR could resuscitate him.”We see a lot of difficult things on this job and you try not to make it personal, but this is the first time I’ve been directly affected like this in 16 years as a police officer,” Cole said. “I don’t view myself as a hero. I just wished I had super powers to save that boy.”

When Joshua’s family found out that Cole regularly participated in Heroes, Cops and Kids, an organization that brings cops dressed up as superheroes to events to cheer up children, they asked him if he would be willing to come to the funeral dressed up as Spider-Man, Joshua’s favorite superhero.

“I told them I would be honored,” Cole said. “I was really touched. I was having a really hard time with it because I felt like I should’ve saved him.”

Cole showed up at the 5-year-old’s funeral in a full Spider-Man suit as he had promised, but also brought along a child’s Spider-Man suit for Joshua to be buried with. The devastated family thanked him and even gave him a plaque they had specially made to thank him for his efforts.

Heroic Cop Dresses Up As Spider-Man For Tragic 5-Year-Old’s Funeral is an article from: LifeDaily

Dads are incredibly protective of their daughters, and will do anything to make sure nothing hurts them, so when this Oregon dad’s baby daughter suddenly disappeared from his life when her mother took her away, he searched everywhere for two years to get her back.

41-year-old Bryan Thouvenel first met his now estranged ex-girlfriend in 2010 at a karaoke bar, and the two eventually welcomed their daughter, Harmony Rain Thouvenel, into the world. But after two years together, Bryan’s ex-girlfriend took Harmony and headed north to Washington without ever speaking to him again or telling him where he was taking their daughter.

Bryan searched everywhere for his daughter, and despite being so close, he never heard anything about where Harmony was or if she was safe for two years. But while eating at a restaurant one day with his own mother, Cindy Lorenz, Bryan received a phone call from a friend who had seen Harmony in a Salvation Army homeless shelter in Spokane, Washington.

Lorenz ran to her car and immediately started driving her son to find his daughter. “She’s not in the best of health in the world, you know, but she drove for 10 hours straight until we got up there to the courthouse,” Bryan said.

After a warrant forced Harmony and her mother to appear in court, Bryan was finally given custody back and was free to take his daughter home.”I sat there and the next thing you know I’ve got my daughter coming out, walking by herself,” Bryan said. “She’s kind of looking around, and I said her name once. She kind of looked at me funny and I said ‘Harmony, it’s daddy.’ Her eyes just kind of lit up.”

“It made it all worth it, you know?” he said. “It was two years I fought through hell just to be a part of my daughter’s life and she was back in my life.”

Now, Washington nonprofit Time to Put Kids First is sending Bryan and Harmony on a trip to Hawaii to try and make up for all that lost time. “It would be this huge memory that she would actually remember. Regardless of whatever happens in the future, she will always have this one memory with dad,” Bryan said.

This little girl may have only started walking herself, but she has also spent the past six months watching her mom’s walk transform as her belly gets bigger and the due date gets closer.

All mom had to ask her daughter was ‘how does momma walk?’ to get her little girl to do her perfect impersonation, but before she knows it, dad joins in to poke fun at his wife’s pregnant waddle and sticks his belly out just like his daughter.

One-Year-Old Toddler Adorably Imitates Pregnant Mom is an article from: LifeDaily

While most dogs prefer spending their days lounging in the grass or playing fetch, brave K-9 dogs are driven to protect their partners and catch bad guys without a second thought about the harm that may come to them in the process.

Police K-9 Nicky was one of those dogs who refused to give up his place on the K-9 unit, even after surviving a brutal machete attack while on duty. Yet on March 31, just two months after that brutal attack, Nicky was back doing the work that made him happy with partner Sergeant Eric Kerns and was working to take down an alleged double-murderer.

Nicky had been deployed to apprehend the suspect but had gotten caught in the crossfire when he opened fire on the Las Vegas police.

Nicky was just as much an integral part of the LVMPD as any other human officer and was given a send-off fit for a hero. The entire human and K-9 units showed up for Nicky’s funeral where they shared stories of his bravery and commitment.

Before being laid to rest, the entire police K-9 unit performed the ‘bark of honor’ to say goodbye to the eight-year-old dog who was taken too soon.

Laura Hopkins, a mother from Inverness, Scotland, left her toddler Noel for just a minute thinking there couldn’t possibly be enough time for him to make a mess or break anything. Yet when she returned moments later, Laura realized she must have left a tube of lipstick within Noel’s reach as there was hot pink lipstick scribbled all over her mirror.

Noel gave his mom the guiltiest look as he stood with his back to his lipstick scribbles, but when mom asks him who ruined her lipstick and drew all over her mirror, he blamed one of his favorite superheroes, Batman, to try and prevent being punished.

When Laura asks him who drew on her mirror, Noel doesn’t hesitate to blame Batman, even when questioned multiple times. “If anyone see’s batman can you tell him I’m wanting a word,” Laura wrote in her caption with the video, which has now been seen over 800,000 times.

Joan Lyons and her 44-year-old groom Craig finally said ‘I do’ at the Isla Gladstone Conservatory in Liverpool after spending their entire lives as friends. The two first met when they were 14-years-old, yet Craig only just admitted his love for Joan 18-months ago. “I fell in love with her as soon as I set my eyes on her when we were 14. I was a bit shy about it and Joan has been married previously but it has always been about Joan for me – she is the woman of my dreams,” Craig said.

Despite their late start, the two planned on spending the rest of their lives together, however, their plans suddenly changed when they learned that Craig had a tumor on his pancreas that was inoperable.

Craig and Joan moved the ceremony up, as they have no idea how much time they’ll have left together, but decided that they would also use their special day as a fundraising event for those with life-limiting illnesses.

“Joan is a woman with a really big heart and it was no surprise that she wanted to help raise money with her big day,” the terminally ill groom said.

To encourage people to donate, and to support her sick husband, Joan decided to shave all of her hair off, which would also be donated and made into a wig for girls who need them,  in the middle of the reception.

“It was the obviously the first time I had seen Joan without her hair and she looked beautiful, absolutely stunning,” Craig said.

It’s not totally unusual to get an occasional flower or gift delivery in the office for a special occasion, birthday, or holiday, but one woman was completely stunned when she found out her co-worker’s husband was the person behind the beautiful bouquet.

Kayla Miller, an employee at Gladhill Pest Control & Property Services, noticed a stunning bouquet of colorful roses sitting on her co-worker’s desk, but couldn’t believe they had been sent by the woman’s husband as he had been dead for two years.

After talking some more with her co-worker, she explained that while her husband passed away years ago, he had planned everything out before he was gone. “Before he passed he lined all of this up for her so she wouldn’t feel alone on those days that would be the hardest to spend apart. I am sharing this story not only because it’s amazing and it warms my heart, but to show girls that true love is real,” Kayla wrote.

“I get to witness a real-life P.S. I Love You story,” Kayla wrote in a post to Facebook. “These flowers were delivered to work today for a lady I work with. They are from her husband who passed away two years ago. Every holiday/ birthday since his passing she has been receiving flowers,presents, and jewelry from him.”

“You should see her face light up when the delivery comes,” Kayla wrote to Facebook. “She loves it when people ask her about the flowers because she gets to tell her love story over and over again. She gets to relive those moments and tells me every time that she isn’t looking for someone else. She knows they will stop one day, but for now, she enjoys the reminders of what they had.”

Woman’s Deceased Husband Sent Flowers For Her Birthday So She Won’t Feel Alone is an article from: LifeDaily

We always think of a hero has to be someone in a special uniform, with special qualifications or special ‘powers’, but in reality, a hero is anyone who is brave enough and selfless enough to risk their own safety to help another in their time of need.

After a historic amount of rain fell in Houston, Texas, flash flooding quickly started putting both people and animals in danger, as water levels rapidly rose. The owners and caretakers of the Cypress Trail Horse Stables, in northwest Harris County, were taken completely off guard by the emergency situation and decided to evacuate and leave behind their almost 80 horses, many of whom were trapped and tied down.

Concerned neighbors couldn’t bear the sight of the panicked and drowning horses, the Cypress Trails Equestrian Center, the Northeast Fire Department, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department were contacted to come and save the struggling horses.

Others jumped in the head-high waters with just a few life vests on and started untying the trapped horses, and leading them to higher ground. So far, they have helped rescue more than 70 horses, and luckily none have died.

These Heroes Risked Their Own Lives To Save Horses Drowning In A Flood is an article from: LifeDaily

For kids having the newest and trendiest clothes and accessories isn’t just about being fashionable, unfortunately, it’s an important part of fitting in with the other kids and making friends.

For one Kentucky 11-year-old, Richard, getting brand new expensive sneakers was just not an option, as his mom was already struggling to pay the bills and put food on the table. Instead, he had to borrow his mom’s 8-year-old sneakers that were completely worn out and covered in holes. When he went outside to join some of the neighborhood kids playing basketball, they bullied him for his shoes, and told him he wasn’t allowed to play with them.

13-year-old neighbor, Shaylynn, watched from her bedroom window as Richard got bullied, and eventually went to sit on the curb by himself. She couldn’t stand the thought that he was being bullied, and so Shaylynn immediately went to her closet, picked up a brand new $200 pair of Nike LeBron sneakers, and brought them over to Richard in a bright red box.

Not only did Richard get a brand new pair of sought-after shoes, but Shaylynn’s gesture showed him he wasn’t alone, and that he did have a friend.

“It’s not something that my family can always afford,” Richard’s mom said of the new shoes, and Shaylynn’s touching gesture. “I cried for hours and I could not stop, because I could not believe that a 13-year-old actually stopped somebody from bullying my child.”

Teen Girl Gave Boy New Sneakers After He Was Bullied For Wearing His Mom’s is an article from: LifeDaily

Soldiers are trained to throw themselves in harm’s way if it means saving someone else, no matter how dangerous the situation may be. So when soldier Mitch Hunter was in a tragic car accident back in 2011 where his car slammed into a 10,000-volt electrical pylon, he didn’t hesitate to push a friend out of the way of a fallen electrical line.

The driver’s girlfriend immediately jumped out of the car after the collision, but Hunter, who was 21 at the time, managed to push her out of the way just after an electrical line fell on her. For five long minutes, 10,000 volts of electricity pumped through his body, and out of his hand and face. “People tell me that I’m fortunate that I don’t remember [the accident] because it would probably cause a lot of pain,” Hunter said of the accident, which took his leg and face.

Hunter tried to move on from the accident and accept how things were as doctors tried to patch up his face with skin-graft surgeries, but after his girlfriend Katerina got pregnant, he refused to have his own child be afraid of his face. “Imagine walking into a room and like falling, and everybody noticing,” Hunter said. “That’s how it was every time I walked in a room because of the way my face looked.”

Hunter decided to try an extremely risky and complicated 14-hour procedure that had only been successfully performed 10 times in the world, which would remove the leftover and scarred skin on his face, and transplant it with the face from a donor.

Five years after the face transplant surgery, the now 35-year-old is sharing his incredible progress, which now lets him go out in public with his son without all the anxiety he used to have. “I feel just as healthy just as I did when I was 21, and I feel great,” he said. “I mean, yeah, I’d like to have my leg and my face back, but without that happening I wouldn’t be who I am today.”

“Hot, cold, pain, tickle, rubbing my beard, someone kissing my face — I can feel everything. I think it’s an amazing journey. I mean, it’s been a hard journey,” he said.

Soldier Who Lost His Face Saving Girlfriend Is Healing 5 Years After Face Transplant is an article from: LifeDaily

Every parent wants the best for their children, and for their kids to have the opportunity to experience whatever they dream of, but those who are born with disabilities or illnesses, those opportunities suddenly vanish.

2-year old Jack Middlemiss was born with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which is a disease where the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick and makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood, like his older brother, Joseph, who died from the same condition in 2013 at just six tears old. Because of the condition, Jack, who needs a heart transplant, will never be able to take part in something as strenuous as a marathon.

Yet dad Scott Middlemiss, who was running the Boston marathon to represent the foundation he and his wife Kate started in Joseph’s honor, refused to let his son’s condition limit his life. As Scott approached the final stretch of the 26.2-mile race, Jack ran to him from the sidelines in a Red Sox cap and sunglasses, and the two finished the race together.

“The first 26.0 miles were kind of bad yesterday, but that last 0.2 with him with me, it was magical and it kind of takes away the pain,” Scott said.

“When you see this little boy who will never be able to run a marathon or any competitive races to see him cross the finish symbolizes what he goes through with a smile on his face,” Kate said.

Dad Carries 2-Year-Old Son Who Needs A New Heart Over The Boston Marathon Finish Line is an article from: LifeDaily

When put in emergency, adrenalin-pumping situations, mothers have been known to do extraordinary things that normally wouldn’t be possible in order to protect their innocent babies, which is exactly what happened when this mother and her baby found themselves in a deadly situation.

While trying to calm her infant baby one evening at a restaurant in Normandy, France, a man wearing a black leather jacket and a black ski mask suddenly ran into the building pointing a gun and holding a black backpack to hold the cash he intended to steal. The robber immediately pointed the gun at the mother holding her baby at point blank range as he demanded money, but instead of panicking, the mother stayed impossibly calm.

At first, it appeared the mother was walking behind the counter to get the money from the register for the robber, but after putting her baby down and out of harm’s way, she slowly walked back up to the man and began hitting him with her fists and an empty bag that she was holding.

After lunging at the criminal, she managed to get him to back up towards the door, and another man finally stepped in to help her force him out the door with a bar stool. Some time later, the robber was caught by police when he tried to return after his failed attempt.

Brave Mom Takes Down Dangerous Robber Pointing A Gun At Her And Her Baby is an article from: LifeDaily

For moms with young children, leaving their child behind to be cared for by complete strangers can be extremely difficult, but they do it knowing that they are in safe hands, which is why an Ontario mom didn’t get too concerned when her 7-year-old came home from school with a bad sunburn.

The 7-year-old’s mom, who chose to stay anonymous, was slightly annoyed that her son got such bad sunburns on the backs of his legs, but she became extremely worried when the ‘sunburn’ started getting rapidly worse. What started as some red marks on his legs and butt, quickly turns into blistering and oozing red bubbles that made it too painful for the little boy to wear clothes.

The bad ‘sunburn’ turned out to be second-degree chemical burns that he got after using the school’s toilet that had been cleaned with an abrasive disinfectant. “The first couple days were really, really, really bad,” mom said. “He couldn’t go to the bathroom without putting a towel on the outside of the toilet seat so that it was soft on his [butt].”

For nearly two weeks, the 7-year-old had to be kept from school to let the burns heal enough.

Now, mom is suing the school district for $250,000 to warn parents after her son was burned with ED Everyday Disinfectant, and another child within the school district recieved similar burns after using a toilet that had been cleaned with harsh chemicals. “It’d be a shame if it happened to anybody’s child.”

Mom Finds Severe Burns On Her Son After He Comes Home From School is an article from: LifeDaily

People always assume that cops are just trying to make life difficult for people for no reason, which is exactly what one Detroit father thought when he got pulled over by an officer from the Westland Police Department.

LaVonte Dell was driving with his daughter in the backseat when he got pulled over by Officer Josh Scaglione for having tinted windows, and was crushed because he knew he was about to get a few tickets that he couldn’t afford. After handing over his license, the officer asked Dell to step out of his car, but what he had to say was the farthest thing from his imagination.

Dell got out of the car, and Officer Scaglione asked why his 3-year-old wasn’t in a car seat. Dell explained that the old one was now too small, and he couldn’t afford a new one.

Rather than write Dell a ticket and give the struggling dad more bills to worry about, Officer Scaglione bought the little girl a proper car seat.“Do you know, this white police officer told me to follow him to Walmart on Ford Road and he purchased my daughter a car seat with his own money,” Dell wrote in a Facebook post that has now gone viral.

“Officer Scaglione reached into his own pocket and made a contribution to LaVonte’s family; and, judging by what he wrote on Facebook, it was taken extremely well,” Police Sgt. Robert Wilkie said. “It’s a big deal when an officer — whether he’s been here a year or he’s been here 20 years — is recognized for making such a contribution. It shows where Officer Scaglione’s heart is, and what his intention is on becoming a police officer. It’s clearly to serve the public and make a difference.”

Hero Cop Buys This Broke Dad A New Car Seat To Keep His Kids Safe is an article from: LifeDaily

At some point or another, almost every mom has left her child in the car as she pops into a store for a minute while running errands, but one Chicago mom had to learn the hard way that leaving your child in an unattended running car is more dangerous than it seems.

While taking a quick pit stop at a local mom-and-pop photo studio, a 34-year-old mom decided it would be easier and quicker to leave her 10-year-old nephew and her one-year-old baby in the car. But moments after parking her Volvo SUV and entering the store, a 34-year-old robber opened the driver’s door and started to take off.

The brave 10-year-old managed to jump out of the car and run into the photo studio to alert his aunt that her car had been stolen with the baby inside, and a nearby security camera captured the gut-wrenching moment she burst out of the store and started chasing down her vehicle on foot.

Luckily, the store employee heard what had happened, and chased down the car while police were still on their way. As she chased him down, the robber dropped the one-year-old baby girl on the curb completely unharmed.

Wild animals like bears are meant to live out their lives happily in the wild, yet many bears find themselves part of an illegal underground trade that  inhumanely cages them and harvests their bile for traditional eastern medicine.

This black Asiatic bear named Tuffy grew up in a bile farm from the time he was a baby, but rather than spend his days frolicking outside in the fresh air, he was kept in a cramped cage not much bigger than a phone booth, and his bile was taken through cruel and painful extraction methods. In fact, when he was rescued from one of the illegal farms, his paws were cracked and his gallbladder had to be removed as it was so damaged.

Animals Asia, an animal rescue and welfare organization that tries to rescue and put an end to bear bile farming, freed Tuffy from his abusers and have been helping him recover ever since. Instead of a cramped cage, Tuffy now has a massive, clean enclosure with his own pool where he is free to play all day long.

Animal Asia managed to capture the inspiring moment Tuffy first got to feel the warm sun on his skin, as they released him to his new home. He immediately charged towards the pool, and splashed around like a goofy child despite everything he had gone through.

For most mothers, the thought of being separated from their babies is unbearable, so when this New Hampshire mom realized she may lose custody of her baby if she lost the custody battle with her ex, she decided to do something drastic to ensure she wouldn’t lose.

For the past three years, 20-year-old Taylier Tibbetts and her son’s father, Bryant Clark have been fighting in the court system over their now 3-year-old little boy. However, Tibbetts recently filed a police report that claimed Clark had been abusing their child, and then set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for an actual attorney so she could finally end the custody mess.

Tibbetts posted an alarming photo of her 3-year-old with a giant bruise on the left side of his ribs, and wrote: “Having to fight this battle I am STRUGGLING to keep a roof over my son’s head, I need all the help I can get. ANYTHING helps. Thank you and god bless…”

However, when Clark finally saw the page, he knew something wasn’t right and sent the photo to the police, who checked on the boy and saw no signs of abuse, and later discovered that the photos had been altered to make it appear as though the boy had been hit.

Tibbetts was forced to take down her donations page, which only made $10, yet still insists she’s a good mom even after getting caught. “I’m not a criminal. I’m not a bad mom. I’m not a drug addict. I’m just a mother trying to do what’s right for her son,” she said.

The senior prom is one of the last chances high school seniors get to hang out with all of their closest friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends before heading off in separate directions for their next adventure.

So when one Lawton, Michigan senior found out her fiancé wasn’t going to make it because he was going to be serving overseas in the US Air Force, she had to get creative to make sure she could share the special night with him. Instead of just going with a friend, 17-year-old Lexi Akerson decided to bring a life-size cardboard cutout of her 20-year-old fiance, Brandon Turner.

“I came up with the idea by joking around with my friends I should take a Fat Head of him to prom since he cannot make it,” Lexi said. “But my friends’ reactions were hilarious, they loved the idea, and thought it was adorable. Especially the parents loved it since he couldn’t be apart of prom, yet he was still here with me…”

At first, Lexi was crushed that her boyfriend of three years wouldn’t be able to make it to her prom, but she knew she would be seeing him soon when she moves to England after graduation to be with him. To make the best of the situation, she brought Brandon’s cardboard cutout to prom, and even danced with it and posed for pictures together.

If you’re friends with any new mothers on social media, you know how much they love taking pictures of their little ones and sharing the adorable snaps online with friends and family. But when this mom and dad posted a picture of their daughter to Instagram, they were stunned when they started reading some surprising comments.

David Campbell, co-host of the Australian Today Extra show, first posted the innocent snap of his 16-month-old daughter Betty to Instagram to poke fun at the adorably messy way she decided to eat her food, and captioned the post saying: “This is a photo of a cheeky Betty who thinks you need to eat tomato sauce off your plate face first.” But instead of looking at the sauce covering her adorable face, users were more concerned with the color of her pupils.

David and his wife Lisa regularly post pictures of their five-year-old son Leo, and their 16-month-old twins Betty and Billy, but this was the first time one of Betty’s pupils were hazy and white, which can be a sign of eye cancer, tumors, or other eye diseases that cause blindness.

‘Thank you,” Lisa wrote in response to their concerned followers. “From the guidelines, as she is not front on, it’s more unlikely there is a problem, but we’ll investigate further to be safe,” Lisa, who never even realized there could be a problem, wrote.

There are many situations where the effects of texting and using smartphones have  become abundantly clear. Texting while driving, for example, causes a 400 percent increase in time spent with eyes off the road.

One mom started to wonder what exactly happened when you start taking your eyes off your life and your children after she realized she had spent an entire afternoon at the playground with her twin boys with her eyes glued to her phone.

“Today I did an experiment, I watched my boys play,” Brandie Johnson wrote. “As I sat quietly in the corner of the room I tallied how many times they looked at me for various reasons: to see if I saw their cool tricks, to seek approval or disapproval for what they were doing, and to watch my reactions. I couldn’t help but wonder if I was on some sort of technology what message would I have been sending?”

With her pen and paper in hand, Brandie tallied a total of 28 looks from her boys, which she normally would have missed entirely. “28 times my angels would have wondered if the World Wide Web was more important than them. 28 times my boys would have not received the attention most adults are searching for. 28 times my loves would have questioned if they were alone emotionally. 28 times my kids would have been reassured that who you are online is what really matters.”

Brandie felt she had failed her sons for not giving them her undivided attention, but vowed to be more present for her children and loved ones. “Please put down your technology and spend some time with your family & loved ones. The next generation of children is counting on us to teach them how to be adults, don’t be too busy on social media, you never know who is watching and what message you are sending,” she wrote.
