Animals might not be able to understand every word that we say, but they are incredibly observant of their surroundings, and incredibly aware of what’s happening around them.

After growing up in a dairy farm, Clarabelle the cow watched as mother cows had their babies torn away from them soon after giving birth, and even had her own babies taken so that her milk could be collected, rather than be used to feed her young.

When Clarabelle’s milk supply eventually dwindled, the farm saw her as worthless and planned to kill her, but luckily a farm sanctuary called Edgar’s Mission in Australia rescued her before it was too late.

After arriving at the sanctuary, volunteers realized she was pregnant yet again. Once Clarabelle’s due date was less than a week away, however, the team noticed a difference in her behavior as she was keeping a distance from everyone.

Clarabelle then mysteriously disappeared, but when she returned, she was no longer pregnant yet had no calf by her side.

After searching the grounds for hours, the volunteers finally found baby Valentine in a tall patch of grass and realized Clarabelle was hiding her so she wouldn’t be taken away.

While Clarabelle doesn’t realize she no longer has to worry about being separated from her baby since she’s been saved from the dairy farm, she still continues to hide Valentine every night to be sure her baby is safe.

One Oregon couple, Joshua Marbury and Alicia Quinney, were in desperate need of some baby-free time and called up their regular babysitter so they could have the night to themselves while their 1-year-old son Jacob was safely being looked after at home.

Mom and dad were having a great time on their date night, but when they arrived home, they found their babysitter asleep and their son screaming. They weren’t happy with what they found but it was nothing compared to what they found the next morning.

When Jacob woke up the next morning, bruises had appeared all over his body, including one on his face in the shape of a hand. However, two months has passed since the traumatic night and police refuse to file charges against the babysitter since Jacob can’t speak and say what happened.

“TWO months ago if not longer my 1-year-old son was smacked across the right side of his face by our babysitter (keep this person anonymous) to the point where MULTIPLE doctors (who in fact showed us hand prints) and the detective said it could have killed him,” Joshua wrote in a post to Facebook in response to the police’s failure to file charges even after the babysitter confessed.

“Something needs to be done. NOBODY can just hit a child and more to just get away with it because the child can’t verbally tell you,” Joshua wrote in his post, which has been shared over 250,000 times.

Pregnant women are known for having some pretty intense and pretty unusual food cravings like pickles with ice cream, but they’re nothing compared to one Liverpool mom’s pregnancy craving.

Like many other pregnant women, 33-year-old Zoe Eastman had been taking extra time to care and pamper herself while pregnant, and had been relaxing in a bubble bath when she suddenly had the urge to eat the bubbles. “When I first fell pregnant, I enjoyed pampering myself in the bath with soothing lotions. I’d try different products, but it wasn’t until I was 20 weeks pregnant that the craving to eat bath bubbles started,” Eastman said.

“I came across Radox Muscle Therapy, and I couldn’t get enough. I would put the bubbles up to my nose and inhale. The experience was invigorating and soon I started tasting the bubbles. For some strange reason, I loved the consistency,” Eastman said.

Eventually, Eastman’s fiancé Mark walked in on her eating bubbles during one of her three baths per day, and her friends found out about her strange craving. As soon as they did, they urged her to get to a doctor to test her blood to see if she was deficient in iron, which can cause people to eat things other than food.

Fortunately, her blood work came back completely normal, and the doctor said her crazy habit wasn’t harming the baby. “After Indie was born, the craving stopped straight away and when I tasted the bubbles it was horrible. The taste was disgusting – I nearly vomited. I wanted to see if I still liked it, but it tasted like soap,” Eastman said.

“It’s probably a good thing the craving has gone now, as these days having a toddler leaves me with no time to soak in the tub – I’m lucky if I get five minutes in the shower.”

Mommy blogger Judy Travis, who blogs under the name ‘itsMommysLife‘ had just put her almost two-year-old twins Miya and Keira to bed for a nap, and was using the quiet time away from toddler patrol to straighten up around the house.

While passing by the baby monitor, Judy couldn’t help but check in on her two little girls. She was used to hearing them talk a little to each other as they fell asleep, but when she looked at the camera now, she saw Keira had gotten up out of her crib and was walking around.

As she watched, however, she realized Miya’s baby blanket had fallen off of her and onto the floor, and Keira had gotten up to get it and put it back on her.

Soldiers are taught to never leave behind their fellow man, no matter how difficult or life-threatening the situation is, and when this soldier was forced to leave behind a puppy he adopted while on duty in Iraq.

Army Specialist Ken Wyrsch was stationed with a Kurdish military outfit in Iraq when he found and adopted a puppy named Ollie, who became the camp’s loving mascot. “He was there when we left on our missions, he was there when we got back,” Wyrsch said about his loyal companion.

About a month ago, however, Wyrsch and the rest of the soldiers found out the camp was shutting down, and he was being sent home, and while he was thrilled to see his loved ones back home, he realized that meant leaving behind Ollie.

“You don’t leave a friend behind, can’t do it,” Wyrsch said knowing Ollie probably wouldn’t survive in a country that treats animals so poorly. “Some Iraqi would use it for target practice or something,” he said.

With the help of SPCA International and thousands of dollars in donations, Wyrsch organized for Ollie to be sent to the United States to live with him, and he is finally back where he belongs.

“This right here was thousands and thousands of dollars of donations that went into this dog, you know?  He’s a good boy. He’s worth it,” Wyrsch said.

Army Hero Reunites With The Dog He Found And Adopted While Stationed In Iraq is an article from: LifeDaily

Soldiers are trained to handle any situation and pride themselves on being able to do pretty much anything they set their mind to, which is why Specialist Christopher Garrett was so devastated when a combat injury left him disabled.

Garrett was a combat engineer with the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, but was shot one night during a mission while deployed in Afghanistan and left 100% disabled. “He was shot through the lower abdomen, and the bullet exited his right butt cheek. He took the bullet while on a night mission in Afghanistan,” wife, Brittany, said.

Since being forced to retire, Garrett returned home where his job is to be a loving husband and father, and despite his injuries and the pain it causes him, he is determined to maintain his home and even mows the lawn once or twice a week.

One morning, Garrett went out to mow the lawn when he spotted a riding lawn mower with a letter.  “As I was getting ready for my day, my husband appeared at the door with tears in his eyes holding our son,” Brittany wrote in a post to Facebook. “My heart sank and I thought someone we love took a trip to Heaven….He quickly assured me that no one had died, but someone had just given him a very expensive riding lawn mower!”

The stranger left no name, but only a note that read: “I hope this saves time for the things that matter most in your life. Thank you for your service and for my freedom. Sincerely, A grateful American.”

I don’t know who they are, but they have been watching my 100% combat disabled husband push mow our entire yard once or twice a week, and thought this would help make more time for the important things in life!!! THANK YOU WHOEVER YOU ARE!!! You don’t know how much pain this is going to save him from!!!”

Last June, A.J. Robinson Brown’s 6-year-old daughter named Finley was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and she couldn’t stand the fact that there was nothing she could do to take the pain away from her daughter and make her feel better. Yet by December, Finley completed her final chemo session, and has been cancer-free ever since.

Despite being overwhelmed by everything her daughter had just gone through, A.J. and the family thought they were finally free from cancer.”Our family thought we were done with cancer for years, but it turns out we weren’t,” Finley says. “My mom got it too on her leg; skin cancer on her leg.”

While A.J never wanted this to happen to her, she was surprisingly grateful that she was the sick one this time and not her children. “A year ago, I might have felt sorry for myself for the physical discomfort that comes from something like this. Interestingly, though, I’m finding myself feeling much more philosophical about the pain. I wouldn’t CHOOSE it, of course, but oh my gosh, it’s so much easier to go through it myself than to have to watch one of my children go through it,” she wrote.

But when this tough mom does struggle with her recovery, she has the perfect coach standing right beside her. “I want you to try your best,” Finley told A.J. “And if you fall, I’ll help you get up and just keep on going.”

“I was so overwhelmed by pride and gratitude for them that I could barely see straight,” A.J. said after Finley and her son Cooper fed and dressed themselves, cleaned their rooms, and insisted she rest. “So, Cancer, you’ve really given me the greatest of gifts. You’ve given my cubs a chance to shine.”

While hospitals normally stick to their strict set of rules to ensure patients’ safety, doctors and nurses often bend the rules for patients who have reached the end of their lives, so that they can go as peacefully and as happily as possible.

This isn’t the first time 65-year-old Robert Gonzales has landed in the hospital, as the Vietnam veteran was shot and became paralyzed during the war, but now doctors fear it might be his last visit because of a series of life-threatening infections.

Despite becoming paralyzed in the war, Gonzalez continued to train and race stallions in Texas. “He loved horses, he loved cattle, he loved ranching and farming. He was proud to serve his country,” wife Rosario said.

Gonzales was used to spending almost every day with the animals that he loved so much, but he hadn’t been able to see them  during his 10-month stay at the hospital. Knowing his condition was getting worse, he told his family that the only thing left that he wanted was to see to see his beloved horses one last time, and the hospital was happy to help organize it.

“When we know that they’re at the end of life, we try to make them as comfortable as possible,”hospital spokesman Lupe Hernandez said.

Gonzales’ family brought a pair of horses named Ringo and Sugar on a 150-mile journey to the hospital, and immediately started kissing Gonzales’ face when they saw him. “He was aware of the horses being there and opened his eyes,” Hernandez said. “The horses were kissing him.”

While no dad wants to see their little girl to grow up and not need them as much anymore, many often dream of the day they get to walk their daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.

55-year-old Chris Palmer had looked forward to that special moment since his precious daughter Heather was born. However, in June 2012, doctors discovered Palmer had an aggressive form of cancer, and although he beat the cancer, he was left paralyzed and in a wheelchair.

“When I lay in hospital after the operation, one of the first things I thought about was my daughter’s wedding and how I wasn’t going to be able to walk her down the aisle,” Palmer said.

28-year-old Heather knew how much her dad wanted to be able to walk her down the aisle, and while planning her wedding a year ago, she found a company called Rex Bionics, which helps disabled people walk with state of the art robotic walking suits.

Heather contacted the company, and they agreed to lend her father the more than $130,000 suit as well as give him lessons before the big day.

And when Palmer made his way down the aisle on his own two feet, there was understandably not a dry eye in the room. “It is really overwhelming that my dad is able to walk me down the aisle,” Heather said.

“It’s wonderful I can do this – it’s fulfilling something that dads do,” Palmer said.

Soldiers and Marines often have very little say in when, where, or how long they’re deployed overseas to serve their country. Not only do they have to prepare to sacrifice their own lives, but they are forced to sacrifice precious time spent with family and friends.

When US Marine John York found out he was being deployed in just 10 days, and would have to miss his son’s fourth birthday and the rest of his favorite holidays this year, he knew he had to think of a way to make it up to his son and celebrate the time they had left.

“He just came home from work and said, ‘I have an idea of what I want to do when I have the 10 days of pre-deployment leave. I really want to do all the holidays, all his favorite holidays that I’m going to miss,'” wife Priscilla said.

First, John took 3-year-old Bryson trick or treating to celebrate Halloween. “He went to every neighbor’s house on the block and he had candy that he handed to them so they’d be ready when Bryson rang the doorbell,” Priscilla said. “He brought candy to each of their houses if they were home. The neighbors were so great about it.”

In the following days, John surprised Bryson with a Christmas tree and wrapped gifts for Christmas, and also got him a birthday cake and a birthday present in honor of his upcoming fourth birthday. “He was really excited about his new bike,” mom said. “He was really pumped about his birthday.”

“He is the most incredible dad and husband I’ve ever met,” Priscilla said. “He helps me out so much. He takes over everything when he comes home.”

Soldier Dad Celebrates All The Holidays He’ll Miss With His Son While He’s Deployed is an article from: LifeDaily

While many parents pray that their little boys and girls don’t grow up and cover themselves in tattoos, these New Zealand parents are lining up to have a local tattoo artist cover their little ones with ink.

Originally, Auckland-based Benjamin Lloyd shared a picture on his Facebook of a ‘tattoo‘ he gave a friend’s young son after he became inspired to bring joy to kids’ lives through his art after his own stepson passed away. Instead of a real tattoo gun and permanent ink, however, Lloyd uses a non-toxic, organic ink that can be washed off in the shower, which he applies with an airbrushing machine.

While tattoos and kids don’t normally mix, Lloyd explains that the minute their tattoo is done, they instantly have huge smiles on their faces. “The kids are so amazed. As soon as they get the tattoo it boosts their confidence,” he said.

After posting the original photos of his friend’s son, Lloyd claimed he would go to the Starship Children’s Health hospital and give free ‘tattoos’ to every single sick child if enough people liked the post. “Nothing brings me more joy than boosting a kids [sic] confidence with a custom tattoo 50 likes and ill [sic] go to starship hospital and tat all the kids up. It’s airbrushed on (not permanent) peace,” he wrote.

When he woke up the next morning, his post didn’t get the 50 likes, but amazingly, it got about 400,000. “Well it looks like im [sic] off to starship,” Lloyd wrote.

Tattoo Artist Gives Free Temporary Tattoos To Sick Kids is an article from: LifeDaily

Parents will risk everything to protect their young, but when poachers outnumbered this mother rhino, she struggled to hold off their attacks and could barely protect herself, nevermind her 8-month-old baby.

Rather than run away in fear and abandon his mother, the brave baby jumped in front of the poachers who had cut off his mother’s horn. Unfortunately, it was too late to save mom and once they got her horn, they began brutally attacking him as they tried to take his horn as well.

Incredibly, he managed to escape and survived 5 days on his own without food, water, or his mother’s protection.

On the fifth day, rangers from the Kruger National Park found the baby wandering on his own and brought him to the rhino orphanage Care for Wild Africa where rescuers named him Lofo because he was lost and then found.

Lofo was incredibly dehydrated and traumatized from the loss of his mother, but the tough baby made it through the first night. After his shock wore off and his wounds healed, Lofo was introduced to other orphaned baby rhinos and has actually formed a new family.

Heroes Rescue Orphaned Baby Rhino Who Did Everything To Protect Mom From Poachers is an article from: LifeDaily

During labor, moms usually have a very active role in bringing their babies into the world, however, many moms who are forced to have c-sections feel useless in the delivery room since doctors and nurses are in complete control of the birth.

31-year-old Danielle Daniel had previously given birth to their 3-year-old daughter Faith, and new how important the delivery was. Having struggled with miscarriages over the past few years, Daniel knew a safe delivery was all that mattered when she became pregnant again, but still wished she could have a bigger role in the birth of her own child after she found out she’d have to have a cesarean section.

To help her get pregnant, Daniel underwent a surgery that puts a stitch on the top of the cervix before pregnancy to prevent miscarriage and early labor, however, it also makes a natural birth impossible.

Because Daniel was being forced to have a c-section, doctors gave her the option of delivering her own baby by pulling him out of the womb after they made the incision. “I was nervous about the idea when they mentioned it and we were hesitant at first because we just wanted to leave it to the experts,” Daniel said.

“But during the procedure I decided to go ahead with it and I’m so glad I did it. I was the first person to be able to hold him and I found it really helped with the bonding too, rather than someone else taking him away,” Daniel said

“It gives the woman a sense of achievement… some women feel as though they are powerless during a caesarean because the baby is taken from them by someone else and feel as though they have nothing to do with the baby,” Dr Girgis said. ‘This way they have that bonding… but it is important it is carried out in a controlled and sterile environment to avoid the risk of infection.”

Mom Delivers Her Own Baby After Doctors Begin C-Section is an article from: LifeDaily

Cops are trained to handle any situation while out on patrol, but nothing could have prepared these cops for what they found inside one Florida family’s home.

In 2012, Travis and Robin Royall had their children taken away from them by The Department of Children and Families (DCF) after their kids were found living in filth. After getting their children back, cops would occasionally come by to check on the home, but when cops recently pulled up outside their dilapidated Florida home, they knew something was wrong by the smell.

Before entering the home, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies could see piles of garbage against the house, but what they found inside was so much worse. The floors were wet and sticky with pee and human feces, there were piles of trash, dirty laundry everywhere, and the toilets, which were full to the brim, had not been flushed in weeks.

Yet, it wasn’t until the cops reached the kitchen that they understood how bad the situation was. “When I opened the fridge, you could barely see the bottom of the drawers and shelves due to the amount of dead cockroaches, bugs and cockroach eggs. When I opened the oven, about 100 cockroaches fell down and began scattering. The oven was full of discarded food and appeared to not have been cleaned for years,” the deputies reports detailed.

The Royalls’ two little boys, who had been found in a room with a hole in the roof and covered in spiders and cockroaches, were taken from the home by the DCF for a second time, and have been temporarily placed with their family members who have been helping clean the house.

“The children are thriving, safe and staying with a family member. We are fully cooperating with the Department of Children and Families and will continue to do so throughout this ordeal,” extended family members said.

Cops Rescue Small Children From Hoarder Parents is an article from: LifeDaily

Any parent will know it only takes a second for their sneaky toddlers to get into trouble when they’re not looking, and this mom had to learn the hard way what happens when you turn your back on a greedy little boy in an arcade.

While mom was visiting a local arcade one afternoon with her toddler, he begged her to play the claw machine after spotting a stuffed animal that he had to have. As mom expected, the stuffed animal fell from the claw’s grip just before making it to the shoot in the corner.

Mom tried to explain to her little boy how difficult it is to win a prize from these claw machines, but when she turned around to get more coins, he came up with a fool-proof way of getting the stuffed animal.

Since he’s just a toddler, he managed to fit in the door where lucky winners collect their prize, and crawled up into the machine. Once inside, he grabbed his favorite toy, but decided to grab a few extra while he was at it.

Toddler Crawls Inside Arcade Game To Get His Toy is an article from: LifeDaily

While parents can never fully protect their little ones from all the dangers of the world, parents try their best to prevent harm through things that are in their control- like making their child wear a helmet, buckle their seatbelt, or even wear a lifejacket.

Australian mother Angela Brown had always followed safety precautions when it came to her children, and made sure both her 1-year-old and her toddler were always securely strapped into their car seats while in the car.

On February 26, Brown and her husband were on their way home from the dentist with their two young daughters in the backseat when the car slammed into a tree at 60 mph. The crash caused the car to flip and land on the vehicle’s roof.

At the time of the crash, Brown’s 1-year-old, who barely got a scratch, was in a rear-facing car seat, while her older daughter had been sitting in a front-facing car seat and had broken her spine in multiple places.

“She was one of the youngest to be fitted with a Halo Brace the doctor told us that most children with her injury don’t normally make it,” Brown wrote in a post to Facebook as she warned parents of the dangers of front-facing car seats.

“Don’t make the same mistake as I did. It could cost you your babies life,” Brown said.

For many couples, starting a family and having a baby is simple and happens the minute they start trying, and for some, it even happens when they don’t mean for it to. But for about 12 percent of women in the United States, getting pregnant and carrying a baby to full term is nearly impossible.

For three years, Cincinnati couple Dan Majesky,37, and wife Leah,36, have been trying to have a baby, and over those three years, they have tried everything from hormone treatments, sperm collections, and intra-uterine insemination.

After three long years of heartbreak and tears, the couple is finally expecting a baby girl this November, but when Majesky decided to announce the news, he couldn’t just ignore the struggle they’ve gone through and didn’t want to pretend like the baby they lost never existed.

“I wanted to write a little more about what we had been through on the way to that announcement,” Majesky said. “Especially regarding the miscarriage, because neither of us wanted that to go unremarked upon. That was a hard time for us — a lonely time — but that baby left a permanent mark on us, and it didn’t seem fair that it would get hidden away.”

“And you get pregnant,” Majesky wrote in the post to Facebook. “Everything looked great and we were on track, so when we went in for one final scan before being released to our obstetrician a couple weeks later, we were all smiles and jokes. ‘I’m so sorry. I can’t find the heartbeat.’ And then you’re not pregnant.”

After all the grief, pain, and exhaustion, the couple finally got pregnant. “We’re very excited, but I’ll be holding my breath for 26ish weeks. And it’s a girl. Not that gender matters! But we’re going to have a little girl! And I am stoked. We are stoked. We are pregnant,” the excited dad-to-be wrote.

New or expecting mothers can sometimes seem paranoid about their baby’s health, but one mother had to learn the hard way to never ignore her maternal instinct even when doctors tried to persuade her that everything was ‘fine’.

Ayesha Newell and husband Martin gave birth to their first daughter Lulu at the world’s most expensive private hospital in the world, the Matilda International Hospital in Hong Kong, but the Australian couple first noticed an infection around the stump of their daughter’s umbilical cord just days after being born on May 7.

Doctors told the new parents that their daughter was perfectly healthy, and discharged them from the hospital. “We took her for a routine follow-up and a paediatrician said the case was quite serious, but only prescribed antibiotics and ointments and told us to wait another 48 hours,” Martin said.

Ayesha was convinced it was more serious, and contacted a family friend and pediatrician back in Australia who told her to get straight to the hospital as she had been infected with golden staph.

“By the next morning we had found out it was septicemia and they then said she needed a lumbar puncture,” Martin said. “This was only a week after she was born, but a couple of days before we’d taken her to the pediatrician who’d basically sent Lulu home to die over the weekend.”

Thankfully, the treatment was successful, and Lulu is finally healthy again at three weeks old.

Doctors Ignore Parents’ Concerns And Send Newborn Baby Home With Deadly Infection is an article from: LifeDaily

Most little boys dream of becoming soldiers, cops, or firemen when they grow up because they want a chance to be a real-life superhero, but one fearless 7-year-old decided he wasn’t going to wait until he was a grown up to become a hero.

The brave 7-year-old was with his mom at a local GameStop in Silver Spring, Maryland at around 9pm last Friday night when two armed robbers wearing masks and dark hoodies came into the store and started demanding money from the cashier.

Before they made their way to the register, one of the robbers tried to grab the boy, but before he could, he punched him twice in the stomach.

Unfortunately, his brave efforts were not enough, and the masked men ended up stealing the cash from the register, as well as their belongings.

“Well, he’s tough,” the boy’s mother, who chose not to identify herself or her son, said. “He’s tough and, you know, I think instincts come out in situations like that.”

“It was scary. You’re never prepared for something like that. You’re not. So, you don’t wish it on your worst enemy,” the boy’s father said of the traumatizing experience.
