Of all the jobs a mom has, being an alarm clock for sleepy kids who dread going to school has got to be one of the hardest, which is why one mom enlisted the help of her trusty dog.
One morning, mom had finally had enough of wake-up duty, and instead, decided to let her determined Siberian husky named Max have a go at the difficult job. Unfortunately, however, mom soon learns that not even a determined husky stands a chance at waking up her tired son.
At first, Max’s determination and energy seemed promising, as he nudged and pounced on the sleepy teen.

Soon enough, however, Max started to realize just how difficult it is to wake up a sleeping teenage boy. When mom finally comes back to check on Max’s progress, she can’t believe her eyes when she sees max cuddled up on top of the blankets with her son who was still fast asleep.

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to get a frantic call letting them know that their son or daughter is getting rushed to the emergency room, and is fighting for their life.
However, that was the exact kind of call one Granbury, Texas dad received while his daughter was supposed to be safely playing at daycare. Two-year-old Kiley Cook had been sent out with the rest of her class at the Rainbow’s Promise Daycare and had been playing alongside her friends when she suddenly felt a sharp, sudden pain in her hand.
The two-year-old looked down and saw the copperhead snake that bit her finger, and released poison into her skin that caused her finger, hand, and arm to swell and turn black. “It was a scary moment. My heart stopped,” mom Nataly Horn, who works at the daycare, said.

Kiley was immediately flown by helicopter to the Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth where they sedated the two-year-old and treated the venomous bite. While Kiley is expected to make a full recovery, Nataly and her husband Michael are understandably shaken.

When most teens get their hands on money, they usually blow it all on gas, food, or clothes, however, one Memphis high school student is spending all of his hard-earned money on something incredible.
At 12 years old, Kevuntez King decided he wanted to start making a little of his own money, however, unlike other teenage boys who want to spend their money on games or sneakers, King had one big purchase as his goal. King was determined to not only make it into college, but actually pay for it himself with the money he saved.
King was raised by a single mom who taught him about responsibility and didn’t want her to worry about the cost of his education. “She just taught me how to be independent,” King said.

For the past five years, King has avoided the many negative influences around him and instead spent every Sunday on a street corner selling newspapers for $1. “I just stay away from the negativity and always be positive,” the now 17-year-old said.
King has now graduated with straight A’s and is able to pay for his entire college education at Tennessee State University in Nashville with the $200 he saved every Sunday.
“When it came down to school my mom didn’t have to come out of pocket to do anything or I didn’t have to take out any loans to go to school,” King said.

“Make sure you surround yourself with people that’s trying to go up in life and not trying to bring you down,” King said. “Just stay positive and always believe in yourself and push forward.”

While many couples struggle with fertility issues and spend years trying to get pregnant, their doctors are usually able to pinpoint the problem. For one Nashville couple, however, doctors could never figure out why they couldn’t get pregnant.
Whitney Britt and her husband Drew have been trying for the past five years to start a family, and knew after the first two that something was wrong. Doctors performed every test they could on the couple, but found no reason why they couldn’t get pregnant since both were perfectly healthy. The only diagnosis doctors could give them was ‘unexplained infertility.’
“It made everything worse,” Drew said. “There wasn’t a level of closure that other people can get when they know why. There was no answer.” For the next few years, the couple tried everything from artificial insemination to IVF, which all failed. “I was so mad,” Britt said. “You are always searching for an answer. You are always searching for a reason. Since they couldn’t find anything wrong with me, I thought ‘It’s got to be God.'”
Britt’s best friend from childhood and mother of two, Jamie Howell, watched as her friend struggled and exhausted almost all of her options, but when Britt started considering surrogacy, she knew it was her opportunity to help her friend.

Howell asked Britt to join her for dinner one evening, where she decided to break the news. “I found someone to be your surrogate,” Howell said. And when Britt asked who it was, Howell simply responded “It’s me.”
Howell began fertility treatments right away. “It’s a hard world to be a part of and she threw herself right in there,” Britt said of her friend who learned of the devastating loss after a failed IVF treatment and a miscarriage. “She opened her mind, her heart and her soul to welcome all this chaos.”

Howell convinced her friend to try one last time, and incredibly, the last attempt was successful. She became pregnant with Britt’s healthy boy, and gave birth to baby Crews Asher Britt on June 2nd.

While most expecting moms find out they’re pregnant through the tell-tale signs of pregnancy like a missed period, an expanding baby bump, and strange food cravings, others have virtually no symptoms.
24-year-old Sasha Hood had always planned on having children and even talked about the idea with her 29-year-old boyfriend Marc Jepson, but figure it was something she’d have years to think about. To be sure she didn’t have an unplanned pregnancy, Hood took her birth control like clockwork, but it seems it didn’t work quite like she had hoped.
For nine months, Hood felt completely normal, had no baby bump, and even continued to get her period but one night in March, she started getting stomach cramps that were relatively mild. When they started getting worse, however, she made an appointment at the doctor where she discovered she was pregnant.

“Even now I look back and wonder how I didn’t know I was pregnant. But I took my pill like clockwork. Until it happened to me, I never imagined any woman could have a baby and not realise she was pregnant,” Hood said. Doctors estimated she was about 28 to 32 weeks pregnant, and sent her home once the pain subsided.
“I simply couldn’t believe it at first. But then relieved Sasha didn’t have some terrible illness, I think I said something like ‘this is crazy’ and then I said something like ‘that’s great news…’ But then I had no idea Sasha was actually nine months gone,” Marc said about the moment Sasha called after getting out of the doctor’s office.
Shortly after getting home, the pain came back worse than before, and Marc called for an ambulance. “I’d had a bath to help soothe the pains but as I lay on the bathroom floor I felt the urge to push,” Hood said. 15 minutes later, baby Theo was born.

“It was a frightening moment as Marc and I realised the cord was round the baby’s neck. Luckily Marc followed all the instructions from the paramedic on the phone and managed to free Theo. Hearing him finally cry was wonderful,” Sasha said.
“But even though we were totally unprepared, we are so happy to have Theo,’ says Sasha of her healthy 7lb 6oz baby boy. “We both still look back and can’t believe we didn’t know we were having a baby. But he is absolutely adorable and now we can’t imagine life without him.”

Expecting moms often post funny pictures and videos of some of the strange things that happen during pregnancy, but when one expecting mom posted an innocent video of her baby bump online, she was stunned to see what strangers were commenting.
Reddit user ‘Rebelrochstar‘ posted a video of his pregnant wife to the site to show off her new pregnancy talent of pushing her belly button in and out, but concerned users commented on the video and pointed out that her new ‘talent’ was a sign of something very dangerous and potentially life-threatening.
The expecting mom, who is also a doctor, thought she was able to push her belly button out so far because her previous pregnancy had left her with a space between her abdominal muscles.

While playgrounds don’t look very scary to adults, climbing up steep ladders to get to the top of a slide or crossing the monkey bars can be pretty intimidating to small children, which is why one mom was so proud when her baby decided to go down the slide.
Amy Smith couldn’t believe it when her two-year-old little girl Demi-Mai wanted to go down the steep metal slide by herself, however, by the time she got to the bottom, the little girl was traumatized and was left in tears. Smith couldn’t understand why her daughter had gotten so upset, but then she noticed the blood dripping down her legs.
Smith was stunned by the bloody site, but when she looked back at the slide, she realized there was broken glass at the bottom of the slide. “I was so proud of Demi as she had just learnt to climb up the rope that leads up to the slide,” mom said.

“I helped her up a bit and then she went down the slide. As she reached the bottom she hit the glass which cut her leg.”
The furious mom rushed her daughter to the hospital to treat the wounds on her legs, and Smith’s daughter was still struggling to walk days after. “I’m really angry that someone would do that in a children’s play park,” Smith said.

On hot summer days where it’s too hot to do anything with the kids, many parents love to turn on the sprinkler in the backyard to let them cool off and burn off some of their energy.
One Arizona mom, Dominique Woodger, loved filling up the kiddy pool and putting the sprinkler on for her kids on hot days, however, she’s now warning other parents of the hidden dangers that caused her baby boy to end up in the hospital with second-degree burns covering 30 percent of his body.
When Woodger saw the temperature outside, she knew it was a perfect day to set up the sprinkler in the backyard for her 9-month-old son, but when she turned the faucet on, scalding hot water that had been sitting in the hose came shooting out on her baby.

“I thought he was crying because he was mad, because he hates when he gets sprayed in the face. I didn’t think that it was burning him,” Woodger said. “It’s heartbreaking. It is. It sucks. All of it was peeling. He had blisters all over the right side.”
According to Fire Capt. Larry Subervi, on hot summer days when temperatures reach up to 115 degrees the water left sitting inside the hose can get as hot as 150 degrees. “So at those temperatures, something as short as a 10 or 30-second exposure can result in a second-degree burn,” Subervi said.

While the 9-month-old is going to be fine, Woodger wants to warn other parents about how dangerous the seemingly harmless activity can be on hot days. “Just be careful. Just touch it (the water) before you spray– before you let your kids near it.”

Indianapolis mom Claire Holden decided to surprise her baby girl with a shadow puppet show, as she didn’t quite understand how shadows worked. At first, the little girl is completely mesmerized by the shadow dancing along the wall in front of her, but mom makes sure that doesn’t last long.
As her daughter sat fascinated by the mysterious thing on the wall, Holden decided to take advantage of her daughter’s limited understanding of shadows and turned the shadow puppet on her daughter to fake ‘attack’ her.

Parents often describe parenthood as one of the most rewarding jobs in the world, but one new dad is about to find out that it’s also one of the dirtiest.
After the birth of their baby daughter Olive, 29-year-old Brendan Andrews’ wife took over diaper duty, but when their bundle of joy turned three months old, she realized her husband had yet to change a dirty diaper. Andrews had managed to avoid the dirty task for months, but once mom caught on, she made sure dad got a turn.
Once baby Olive went to the bathroom, mom called Andrews up to the changing table and filmed the hilarious moment with her camera as dad began wretching from the smell.

The Western Australia man was confident when he first walked up to the room, but as he began unbuttoning baby Olive’s clothes the smell hit him, and caused him to dry heave.
Andrews tries multiple times to open his daughter’s diaper, but the minute he sees the mess that needs cleaning up, his eyes start tearing and he’s forced to cover his nose with his sweatshirt.

Andrews lasted just over two minutes while trying to change his daughter’s diaper before giving up, running out of the room, and throwing up in his mouth.

When it comes to a baby’s health and safety, parents can often seem hysterical to doctors who are sick of being challenged by emotional moms and dads, but one Australian couple is warning parents to not let a medical license intimidate them from listening to their intuition.
In 2013, Naomi and Grant Day originally called an ambulance for their six-month-old son Kyran, yet were forced to wait four hours as EMS workers insisted on having their lunch break. Once they finally arrived at the hospital, the Days hoped they’d finally get proper care for their sick little boy, who they knew was very sick.
Doctors initially diagnosed Kyran with gastroenteritis, which is often called the ‘stomach bug’ and causes vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite, however, Naomi and Grant knew it was more serious than that.

They insisted doctors do more testing, but they refused to do anything for their son, who was quickly deteriorating. “The deterioration from the night before was horrific. I told my Mum… he’s severely dehydrated, he’s pale, they’re not doing anything,” Grant said.
30 hours later, doctors realized Kyran had an obstructed bowel. They rushed him to the Sydney Children’s Hospital, but it was too late. “He died from the mismanagement and the mistreatment, the treatment that didn’t happen,” Grant said.

Now, the couple is speaking out about the tragedy that took their innocent baby, and is trying to introduce ‘Kyran’s rule’ so that doctors finally take parents’ concerns seriously. “I just don’t want this to happen to any other child,” Naomi said.

Many families install security cameras in their homes so they feel safe and secure when they’re not home, but most of the time they don’t capture anything unusual.
Homeowner Hollie Mallet was checking her security footage one evening as she usually did when she spotted something unusual. In the late afternoon, she watched as a little boy snuck into her garage. At first, she couldn’t understand what he was possibly doing, but then she watched him steal a quick hug from her dog and then run out.
“One day, we were going through the footage and I told my husband, ‘You’ve got to see this,’ and he came in and gave him a quick hug, and we wanted to find out who he was,” Hollie said.

Hollie posted the video to her Facebook page to try and identify the sweet little boy, and soon enough the boy’s mom, Ginger Breaux, found the video and realized it was her son Josh.
“Josh talks about your dog all the time! Every time we pass he looks to see if she was sitting where he could see her. Just didn’t know he was doing things like this,” Ginger wrote in a comment to the video, which has been viewed about 2 million times. “Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn’t be on someone’s property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much.”
Instead of being angry at the boy’s trespassing, Hollie is actually thrilled that her black Labrador named Dutchess has a new friend. “My dog is super friendly and loves to play,” she said. “With my husband and I at work all day, it’s great for him to come and find her to play. Every day since, he’s been coming back and he’s been playing with her and it’s so fun to check the video at the end of the day to watch them.”

While expecting moms are with their babies every second of the pregnancy, they still can’t wait to see their baby’s little nose, eyes, and chubby cheeks. While they may not be able to see their baby’s face until the delivery, ultrasounds are the next best thing.
Tammy Gonzalez couldn’t wait to see her baby girl when she went in at 17 weeks for her ultrasound, but when the baby came on the screen she noticed a large, round mass by her baby’s mouth. At first, she thought it was just her baby blowing a bubble in the womb, but when she looked up at the doctor’s face, she knew it wasn’t so harmless.
Doctors told Gonzalez that the mass protruding from the roof of the baby’s mouth was a teratoma, a rapidly-growing tumor that would likely cause a miscarriage if the baby wasn’t aborted.

When Gonzalez refused both those options, doctors explained that there was one other possibility, but it was extremely risky since it had never been done before. “I said, ‘I want to do this,'” Gonzalez said as she agreed to the endoscopic surgery. “Let’s do this.”
Dr. Ruben Quintero made a small incision into the sac and cut the stem of the tumor, which fell right off. ‘It was amazing,” Gonzalez said. “It was like a 500-ton weight lifted off of me.”
The tumor remained floating in the amniotic sac for the remainder of the pregnancy, but it shrunk by the time Gonzalez delivered her healthy baby girl. “She’s perfectly fine,” Gonzalez said two years later about her daughter. “She has a tiny scar on the roof of her mouth. She talks; she drinks. She is my little miracle child.”

Anna Carlson was home alone with the baby one afternoon when she decided to let her little boy try a taste of her granola bar, however, she had no idea of the danger that lurked inside of the tasty snack.
Carlson and her son Arthur were in the basement playroom of the apartment when she broke off a small piece of her granola bar and fed it to her son for the first time. Moments later, she thought she spotted a strange red rash on his body, and by the time she brought her son upstairs to take a better look, the rash was covering his whole body.
Carlson realized her son was having an allergic reaction and called 911 after stabbing Arthur in the thigh with an EpiPen. At the hospital, doctors gave Arthur more drugs and steroids to help him fight the reaction, and hours later he was finally done fighting for his life.

Later on, Carlson looked at the ingredient list of the granola bar she fed her son, and saw in small print that the bar contained cashews, which is what caused the deadly reaction.
While this mom was given doctor’s orders to give her little boy new foods, moms and dads should all memorize the 7 other kinds of foods to never feed their little ones:
Cow’s milk: While many kids and adults drink cow’s milk, don’t try using this as a replacement for breastmilk or formula as it’s harder for your baby to digest.
Nuts: Peanuts and tree nuts like cashews, almonds, and Brazil nuts are some of the most common allergenic foods and can cause severe, life-threatening reactions. Even if your child doesn’t have a nut allergy, their small size and texture is a choking hazard for children under four.
Honey: Honey is a raw food, and while the chance is small, it may contain a bacteria that causes infant botulism in children under a year old.
Fish: Fish and shellfish is another common food group that causes severe allergic reactions, which children usually don’t grow out of. Be sure to talk to your doctor before giving your child any fish, shrimp, lobster, or crab.
Hard or sticky foods: While this has nothing to do with allergies, foods that are extremely sticky or hard like marshmallows or hard candies can be difficult for a baby to chew, and can easily cause choking.
Unpasteurized dairy products: Pasteurization is an important process that kills harmful organisms and bacteria from foods like milk and cheese. While adults shouldn’t even eat unpasteurized foods, babies have weaker immune systems and are more susceptible to bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria.
Eggs: Eggs are another common allergenic food that can cause life-threatening reactions, however, even if your baby is not allergic to eggs, be sure to cook them thoroughly as it increases the risk of Salmonella poisoning.

Lots of little kids give their parents a hard time when it comes to getting dressed and putting shoes on, which is why one Blackpool, England mom didn’t take her daughter seriously when she complained about her shoes.
2-year-old Esmé Connor was celebrating her 2nd birthday when she received a pair of peach colored jelly sandals, but it wasn’t until a few days later, after all the birthday activities subsided, that mom Lisa Connor and her fianceé Niall Cartmell dressed Esmé up in her new shoes.
“On Monday she was moaning and whingeing and I initially put it down to being tired. She was playing in the garden while I did some work and that’s when she came in crying,” Lisa said.

“Esmé was in absolute agony. I couldn’t believe it because she had only been wearing them for half an hour. It’s not like she was running around in them for hours,” mom said. “She was just plodding around the house and then came running in in tears.”
“There was blood all round her ankle and on the soles of her foot. Of course there will be new shoes that rub, but this is ridiculous. There was so much blood and she wouldn’t stop crying. Her dad had to spend an hour calming her down. It spoiled her birthday weekend really,” Lisa said.

“Other parents saw my pictures and messaged me to say they had similar problems. I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else,” mom explained. “I think they should be taken off sale before any more children get hurt. She’s not been able to put any shoes on since.”

While there’s no easy way to get old, anyone who’s ever had a parent or grandparent with dementia knows how difficult and painful it is for a loved one to forget some of the most important parts of their life.
Despite 83-year-old Jean Walter’s progressing dementia, family members could always count on her trusty teddy bear, which was given to her 11 years ago after her husband and soulmate Dennis passed away from lung cancer, to bring her back. When squeezed, the voice box hidden inside would play a recording of Dennis’ voice saying: ‘You’re the best girl in the world for me.’
“I got the teddy bear made for my grandma’s birthday in August 2005 because I wanted to do something nice. We are really close,” 27-year-old granddaughter Abbie Webb explained. “She just cried and cried and cried when I gave it to her. She loved it.”

“It has helped her through so much. She listens to the recording every day, in the mornings,” Abbie said. However, after a while the recording began to fade, and eventually, it stopped altogether. “When it broke she put on a brave face and said, ‘I have had many happy years with it’ but I was distraught and I felt so guilty. It was something we couldn’t get back, with him having passed away 11 years earlier,” Abbie said.
Abbie was determined to get the bear fixed, and finally she found a team that could restore her grandfather’s recording. And when Jean finally got the teddy bear back, she was relieved to be able to hug it again, but was in tears when she was told to squeeze it, and heard her late husband’s voice again.

“With her dementia, she gets quite confused with emotion and sometimes she loses track of things, so I imagined should was just going to say thanks,” Abbie said. “It shocked me and all of my family that she was that taken aback by getting it back.”

Being a good parent means hanging up your kids’ doodles and finger paintings like they were a Picasso even when you can’t make out what’s supposed to be in the picture.
While this dad is supportive of everything his adorable daughter does, he couldn’t help but want to erase his daughter’s chalk drawings on the front stoop of the family’s home once he saw the ‘giraffe family’ that she had created.
Once the little girl completed her giraffe masterpiece, she invited dad out to take a look at what she drew in chalk on the steps of their home. However, once he got outside, he saw a group of penises rather than a bunch of giraffes.

His little girl was clearly oblivious to the uncanny resemblance her giraffe family had with male genitalia, and so dad tried his hardest to see what she was seeing by asking her to explain what she had drawn. “Why don’t you explain to me what they are again, what you have drawn?”

Dad still struggles to see the giraffes after his daughter proudly points out the legs and eyes, but rather than fill her in on the joke, he decided to keep it to himself and let her be proud of her hilarious creation.

After a long winter spent stuck indoors, many parents can’t wait for the warmer weather when they can finally let their kids play outside and use up some of their seemingly endless energy.
As the summer begins, many parents love taking their kids to the local pool or beach, however, one lifeguard is now warning parents of the dangers that threaten kids when parents turn their backs even for a few minutes, as it only takes a few seconds for a fun afternoon by the water to turn into a tragedy.
On a hot summer afternoon, dozens of adults and children decided to head to a local South Carolina pool to escape the heat in the wave pool, but as one of the lifeguards watched the swimmers, he noticed a small toddler struggling to stay above the surface.

His instincts and training instantly kicked in, and he leaped into the pool, and rushed towards the unsupervised 3-year-old that was moments away from frowning.
“I had to walk this 3-year-old girl around until I could find her family. They had no idea she was missing,” the lifeguard said. “I have been doing this for 18 years and I am still amazed by the lack of supervision some kids get around the water.”

Send young children to swim lessons
Learn CPR
Never let a child swim alone, and look for a swimming site that has lifeguards
Do not use air-filled or foam toys as safety devices as they are not designed for safety purposes
Always watch children while swimming, even in shallow kiddie pools
Don’t drink alcohol while supervising swimming children
Install fences around your pool if you have one at your home
Keep the pool deck clear of toys, and prohibit running around the pool
Wear lifejackets in natural bodies of water
Check the swim conditions before visiting the beach

Parents do everything to keep their babies safe while traveling in the car, and while this mom made sure her baby girl was safely strapped into her car seat, she was practically helpless when a snake found its way into her car and right next to her daughter.
Philana Williams, a teacher from Denton, Texas, was heading over to a friend’s house one evening, and after she parked her car, she opened the back door to get her things and her 1.5-year-old daughter when she saw something slithering on the floor in the corner of her eye.
“When I opened the passenger door to get something out, I saw the snake sitting right on the floor board,” Williams said. “I grabbed my baby out of her car seat out the back, and slammed the door as quickly as I could.”

Williams managed to grab her baby out of the car without being harmed, and headed straight to the police station for help. Animal Control Officer Humberto Vega went back to the SUV to look for the angry snake, which luckily was only a non-poisonous rat snake.

“I had the clamps on it and I tried to pull it out and all he left me was his skin,” said Vega, who unfortunately couldn’t catch the snake. “The car will remain in Downtown Denton until my husband goes and drives the car home. I am going nowhere near that car,” Williams said.

We’re often told that it’s rude to stick your nose in someone else’s business, but luckily one woman decided to act when she spotted something unusual.
While Syneathia James was driving in the car with her friend Belinda Stoves, she couldn’t help but notice a man slumped over in his Dodge Challenger that was parked on the side of the road. She could have kept driving, but her instincts told her something was wrong, and so she pulled over to check on the man.
“I saw him slumped over in the front seat, and then I saw something wiggling,” James said. “I got out of the car, looked in the back and there’s a baby in the backseat.”

She could only imagine how hot it was inside the car on such a sweltering day, and was afraid the heat would soon kill the child and her father, who was unconscious. “He was sweating like a dog,” James said. “The car wasn’t running, there was no air, and everything was locked. My hand is red from banging.”
She called for help from a resident nearby, and had them call 911, but knew she would take matters into her own hands if they didn’t arrive soon enough. “I said, ‘If they’re not here in a few minutes, I’m going to break the window,”’ James said. “So I went to the back of my van and got my hammer. I wasn’t going to let this baby die.”

Thanks to James, police arrived at the scene, and were able to save the little girl and her father before it was too late. “I was scared because I saw that baby in the car. I’ve been watching the news and they’ve been finding babies in hot cars,” James said. “It was very frightening.”
